I think they might have things other than summer holidays on their minds

Let me tell you that criminals who plunder, rape, and murder in Ukraine are not the people who want to come to Thailand for a vacation.

A lot of Russians just have no idea how to live with all the BS their criminal "president" and his accomplices have committed. They need at least a week or two of respite of the deafening roar of fascistic propaganda that comes from each and every media in Russia. That is why they want to come to Thailand.

It is the Dark Age in Russia now. You just cannot imagine how it feels to live in a huge prison which Russia has become.

I would be too ashamed to travel anywhere outside of Russia if I was Russian. The idea that they can relax and enjoy a holiday with a young family, while their fellow countrymen are murdering innocent children in Ukraine is utterly disgusting.

You have got a privilege to be born NOT in Russia.

People who live in Russia have no legal way to protest against the unlawful deeds of their government.

Russia is a huge prison, do not speak so lightly about choices that Russians have to take in their life.

Are you sure that being in their boots you would find enough bravery to rebel and doom yourself and your family to almost inevitable reprisal? They could throw you to jail for a peaceful protest. And in the jail they can torture you as they like, they can break your back and make you slowly die for months in unbearable pain - and it happened more than once with Russian opposition leaders. Such is the reality of Russian fascism.

I get all that and understand there will be many decent people who want to get away from the animal Putin. However, that is not the answer. If the good people leave, then he will carry on. I’m afraid only the Russian people can remove Putin. It’s the good people who are perhaps wanting to get away that need to stay and stop him.

Please remind me how successful were German people with replacing Adolf Hitler.

Modern Russia is the same as Germany in late 1930th: a country captured by murderous gang which made the entire state their tool of terror.

145 million oppressed by what 2,000 criminal thieving thugs ? Pathetic ! Poor reflection of Russian people. 4,000 brave protesters is useless. Template was Ukraine Revolution of 2014.

Army should have refused to invade Ukraine, mutinied & removed Putin & FSB Thugs. Problem is that Russia has no moral core, no trusted institutions or traditions …ever. Just endless suffering, misery & abuse ; past whole history of 1000 years.

Constitution & Laws complete Lies used only to punish the weak, with tax evasion or foreigner support allegations. Then Permanent Jail…..or “ falling from high windows” or “ poison”.

Persisting then with prison culture of lies, fear, thievery & poverty. No Idea of Democracy. So nothing to fight for ……

Are the Ukrainians also allegedly committing war crimes? I’m not talking about moving heavy weapons into civilian populated areas, failing to forcibly evacuate civilians clearly at risk, using human shields or videotaping POWs for propaganda purposes involving possibly coerced confessions. I’m asking about alleged war crimes against POWs, and, if so, is that clear breach of the Geneva Convention also excusable?

There is no war between Russia and Ukraine, is there?

And since there is no war, there are no POW.

Therefore, captured Russian soldiers are NOT protected by Geneva Convention.

Ukrainian soldiers do whatever they like to these "special operation" soldiers.

you may be an excellent military man, but you are a very poor historian.

The USSR was created in 1922, long before the start of WW2.

The colonial system involves pumping resources from the colonies in favor of the mother country.  The USSR did nothing of the kind, economic relations with the countries of the socialist bloc were equal.  Unlike, for example, Great Britain and other European countries, which openly plundered their colonies until the middle of the 20th century.

and largely thanks to the USSR, Britain was able to abandon its colonial past and become a modern democratic state

"relations with the countries of the socialist bloc were equal" - especially with those who tried to quit ;)

For example, Czech Republic in 1968 (Czechoslovakia that time).

Wrong. Calling it a war, invasion or a “special operation” makes no difference. And how can we have allegations of war crimes if there is no war?

“Hostilities between Russian armed forces and Ukrainian armed forces constitute an international armed conflict governed by international humanitarian treaty law (primarily the four Geneva Conventions of 1949 and its first additional protocol of 1977 (Protocol I), and the Hague Conventions of 1907 regulating the means and methods of warfare), as well as the rules of customary international humanitarian law.”

Yeah, and the spec op Russians do whatever they like to civilians, no crime there at all, right?

"Rules-based order" is all about making the rules and keeping "order" as they are made up on the way.

So, to break it down for you.

The "war crimes" allegations were made by those who cheer on the Ukraineans to get killed, early on in conflict.

So if you allege "war crimes" how can you then come back and say war crimes alleged to have been committed from the Ukrainean side cannot be "war crimes"?

In all this Byzanthine language and parsing of principles, the Anglo-US league should remember that such behavior leaves an (increasing" impression of a vast double standard here.

I am actually OPPOSED to the entire war (and I call it war); but I am also OPPOSED to the entire situation escalating beyond the Ukraine. I believe it is easier to avoid a Nuclear war if one strives more towards dialogue than how to ship more ordinance for others to use (and get killed) to kill the other side.

This is not a mere Ukraine-Russian conflict even though one side insists upon labelling it such. The West should have men apply for Ukraine citzenship and forfeit their old ones. Then, this farce can be maintained aas an "isolated incident" between two minor nations (as we know, Russia has such a miniscule economy, right)?

I fully appreciate the difficulties and challenges the people have in overcoming such issues. The same kind of problems exist in Thailand and many other countries around the world. However, that doesn’t change the fact that in the vast majority of cases, it is only the citizens of that country who are able to change it. The only exceptions being all out war. That was how Saddam Hussain was kicked out and yet some people still believe it was wrong to do so. The other option is for other countries to impose sanctions and disrupt operations in a country. Again, some people believe that is wrong to interfere in other countries problems.

As difficult and as costly as it will be, I’m afraid the Russian people have to find a way. Perhaps they could start by refusing to vote for Putin in future elections?

30 military grade bio labs on the Russian border. Not hearsay, The American undersecretary of state is on film admitting their existence. Massive attack was being prepared on the Dombass area. Boris the buffoon admits that the uk alone has trained up over 22,000 Ukrainian troops and all and sundry have been sending massive amounts of weapons for several years. Peaceful neighbour? Maybe you should pull up some footage of what happened in Odessa 2014 when the radicals and neo-Nazis stormed the town, setting fire to the trade union building, trying to burn the occupants to death, And any trying to escape being beaten to death with baseball bats. Like many on here your knowledge of Ukraine and its history is zero.

"Biological research facilities " watch Nuland video. They initially went down the misinformation route, but admitted it when evidence became overwhelming. You can’t do biological  research unless you have the pathogens!

Not sure of your reputable source, this is sourced from the BBC.

"Russia has claimed without any evidence that biological weapons are being developed in laboratories in Ukraine with support from the United States.

It says material is being destroyed to conceal the country's weapons programme, but the US says this is "total nonsense" and that Russia is inventing false narratives to justify its actions in Ukraine."

Oh a communist review in order to counter my arguement its a right wing nutjob conspiracy.

I see what you did there. Very clever.

The problem is the extreme right and left wing both believe in totally different things.

But BOTH behave the same.

Come up with a reputable source backing your claims and I will read it with interest.

A word for word video from the US undersecretary of state not sufficient??!!! So she was lying then? Not hearsay, a direct reply from the politician in charge? How stupid of me. Of course she’s lying!

I’m not right or left wing. I seek out the truth using my intelligence and critical thought. Maybe you should try it?

No, you try and seek out media sources which give you confirmation of what you want to believe. Big difference. Now watch a source which shows the US undersecretary of state giving her full reply and not just an out of context soundbite.

Your intelligence and critical thought will take you to a completely different conclusion.

If you have it.

That’s the bbc for you. Refer to my reply to the Scottish xxxx. You’ll struggle to argue a case when the politician in charge is on film admitting it!

Its no wonder Russians are thinking of travelling. The ones in Donbass are hiding in their houses so they don't get picked off the street and sent to the frontlines. Putin has no regard for those people as they are worthless. If I was in Russia I would take a longggggg vacation and not come back and maybe sew a Polish flag on my backpack, lol.

I used to admire Putin and his skills in making the West give him what he wanted. But honestly I think he has lost it and maybe is getting senile? His invasion of Kiev has failed, he has lost 2 naval ships, thousands of forced to fight Russians are dead and this is likely and indication of more of what is to come. Even worse, more countries now plan to join Nato, his new nickname is war criminal, and the atrocities his soldiers have committed in Ukraine make being Russian one of the worst countries to associate with home on the global stage. Where will Russians travel once this is over? Syria, North Korea, probably China, lol. Anywhere else and you pretty well would have to pretend you are from somewhere else and stitch some other countries flag on your backpack or you will get a dose of "whats it like to be a child killer"? If he was smart he would save face and get out now, apologize to Ukraine and give them money from the sale of oil to rebuild their country. The other option is keep doing more mistakes, make things even worse, and eventually piss off the world so much that Russia becomes a target and the war goes on their turf with the goal of regime change and reparations to Ukraine. Sadly, he has lost his marbles and I think we are going in that direction regardless. The US must be just laughing as they get to spend a few billion dollars and see Russia get destroyed without losing a single soldier. Welcome to Vietnam Putin..... Or maybe we should call him sleepy Putin....
