The website states that tourists bringing their drones in to register. I am a resident here and purchased the drone here. Does that matter?

They all have to be registered with the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand.
IIRC the requirement for drones came in two or three years ago?
I think the tourist bit was just mentioned to explain that even they need to register their own drone which they bring with them on holiday.

Considering the limitations and rules of were you can fly a drone in Thailand- 99% of the videos on You Tube are in violation. No one seems to care.

I was just pointing it out so that at least you'd be aware. It's no skin off my nose, I don't even own a drone. I just remember reading about it in the press and the introduction of registration after one caused a near miss with a small aircraft.

What makes you say 99% of the youtube videos are in violation? Are they flown near to buildings, airports, aircraft, or are there other violations?

Hmm, 'no one seems to care' - that's same as the police until there's an accident.

The regulations state to not fly where there are people or over any villages or communities. So that kills all the You Tube travel videos.

The drone this morning had a very low  battery to star,t(not sure why!)- so I lost my fly over video- but did get a picture in the short flight. I am going back later to get the fly over done right!
