A lot of people made a lot of money, for the "landbridge project between Krabi and S´thani. The Highway 44 still has the railway track land between both directions.

Now, between Chumporn and Ranong, they have to cross some hill side areas, up to 600-1000+m.

I have no doubt, they will start the project, like they did start it in Surat and Krabi. And after all land is bought and the "highway" is done, no one will go further on with it.

Because if they really wanna make that an international project, they have to do it internationally with Malaysia together:

Between Perlis and Songkla!

That is the only option, if they wanna grab business from Singapore, traffic into the Golf and south china sea and return!

Tha would be the ONLY route, where you could create "deep sea" harbors on either side and the train track would not have to fight hills or bigger mountain, no need to build tunnels.

About the same, just without a real  deep sea harbor in Krabi province.

I mean, without killing the area between Phuket and and PhiPhi for tourists and nationalparks

People may think this is not doable, but how many people in the world have been scared almost to death by the climate-change-will-destroy-the-earth fairy tale? Climate change, of course, is just the marketing tool used to con people into submissive obedience.  How many people were murdered by the COVID viruses, the so-called "vaccines", the ventilators, the bans on really effective medicines to make sure that dangerous, unsatisfactorily tested vaccines could be sold with no repercussions, no financial penalties against the murderers selling them? How easy has it been shown that supply chains can be easily disrupted?  With automation and AI how long can people in cities live when there is no incoming food and water is shut off?  The 15-minute cities, like Bangkok, to which then Bangkok governor Samak Soonthornvej committed back in the first decade of this century will be ideal for isolating people into much smaller groups, cutting them off from others, and releasing aerosol disease bombs while telling the people they have been "vaccinated" without their consent. What? You do not believe that people can be so evil? Then you had better wake up - but it might be too late already. Wasn’t this proposed just a few years ago and shot down in large part because it’s was economically marginal at best? With China entering a Japan style lost decades at best or a hard landing recession (more likely depression) at worse. And since China will make up the largest share of goods shipped, how has the economics of the idea gotten better in the mean time? Thailand doesn’t have the economic liquidity in the foreseeable future to take on a boondoggle of this size. Means they will have to borrow the entire budget in an era of higher interest rates and restricted capital, someone is just begging for trouble.

Analysts have pointed out that demands for the Kra Canal or land bridge gain momentum whenever worries arise over Thailand’s economy. The project is supposed to create 280,000 jobs in the southern provinces of Ranong and Chumpon, and the state planning agency estimates the project could improve economic growth to 5.5% annually, a recent Reuters report said.

 

However goods will likely need to be off and onloaded at each end and that will discount any time savi g. There will be the cost of using it and of course the cost of building as well as the environmental impact

I think one has to look at the undermining interests of who openly will get slam dunk construction contracts and profit and perhaps who is associated with getting a payout from these interests as well. And I am not talking about the foreing interests so this is one reason this will be rubber stamped, but it is not necessarily a bad idea because shipping companies in Thailand already use feeder vessels to transfer the goods to hubs which in turn get loaded on to another vessel for destination. But getting the shipping companies to accept new routes and transfer hubs is maybe more difficult than they think it will be. The Panama canal intermittenly has problems with traffic and water levels not enough, so this is also another gateway to the EU and East Coast of USA. Helps avoid the CCP BS Bully 9 dash if ever goes south, and it will eventually. And the corridor TT one end to the other is only 90km and in actuality is nothing and does save lots of time. I would just look at the PT' real reasons for the push, and then what will the Puppet master and the puppets get out of it as well as the others having interests will gain.
