I suspect the author is young or not terribly knowledgeable about Thai history.
Wat Pha Son Kaew has become rather fashionable and trendy of late, perhaps because of it's breathtaking views and visionary design.....but certainly does lack the significance and historic presence that numerous wats have secured.
In defence, if one has ever had the opportunity to take the place in, it does have it's moments. But not top 5. Top 100 easy.
Bigger concern is that this is actually newsworthy.
“Teenagers alert policeman to suspicious behavior, policeman takes action, leading to an arrest”.
Yeah, so what? Whats tomorrows headline? “Fireman puts out fire” ??
Surprising, don’t know how the Phetchabun temple got in there. Not even 20 years old, not especially significant. Top 100 maybe, but top 5? Maybe tne writer used to live nearby ??
It seems ludicrous to me that the clinic has not been dealt with in any way shape or form by the Thai authorities. Am I to assume that as usual brown envelopes stuffed with cash were involved resulting in complete inactivity by the authorities?
Whilst it is laudable that he did stop, unless there is more to this story than is being reported I do not see how he was 'brave' as it seems all he did was call for and wait for backup. Not understanding why the 'teenagers' had not already done this.
