News Forum - Frozen pension policy: British expat’s dream turns into nightmare
He didn't pay for it. Most UK pensioners have not personally contributed to cover the government pensions paid out. The tax burden is carried by a small group of taxpayers. The 10% of income taxpayers with the largest incomes contribute over 60% of income tax receipts. The Institute for Fiscal Studies (IFS) analysis – which covers around three quarters of tax revenues (including income tax, NICs, VAT, excise duties and council tax) a few years ago found that the 50% of households with the largest incomes contributed around 78% of taxes. It is fair that foreign residents not benefit from pension increases, because they are not contributing or paying taxes. Pensioners in the UK are still paying VAT on the items where they do not receive exemptions. Foreign residents do not pay that tax. The VAT helps cover the COLA. Why then should people who do not contribute recieve a benefit that others are paying for? Foreign residents are not supporting the UK economy and have no right to demand that the UK taxpayers cover their increased cost of living. -

News Forum - Bangkok condo guard allegedly punched British woman (video)
He was harassing her and in her face. She pushed him away. Mr. Mohammed sucker punched her after she presented no threat to him. There was no justification for that punch. The fact that he was sleeping on the job and not legally authorized to work, speaks to the security agency's deficiency. He has since run away. The police can find him but did not. Begs the question if the agency is operated by a current or past police officer -

News Forum - Outrage as foreign couple crash car, leave injured rider in Phuket
One incident. How many times do Thai drivers run down foreigners or have collisions and then run away? Those incidents are rarely reported or have the same outrage against the Thai driver. The driver is known and yet not named. -

She hit him once and he hit her back once, seems to me she got what she deserved. -

News Forum - Pattalung man faces arrest for molesting two girls
"The Pattalung Provincial Police Commander has since established an investigative committee to examine the conduct of the initial investigator. He criticized the laziness that caused unnecessary suffering to the affected families." What a joke! This level of laziness is endemic in the RTP don't try to tell me a Provincial Police Comander was surprised. He and the police force are ONLY taking any action because the girls parents kicked up enough of a stink for the media to become interested!
