PM Prayut Chan-o-cha has defended the CCSA’s decision to delay the re-opening of Thailand’s nightlife to January 15. Bars and clubs around the country had been widely anticipating a re-opening on December 1. However, any hopes of making some revenue over the normally busy end-of-year period have now been dashed. Bars and nightlife venues have decried the decision, which now threatens the future of many operators whose livelihoods were already hanging by a thread. Phakin Petpol, who manages the Tawan Daeng entertainment complex in the north-eastern city of Nakhon Ratchasima, or Korat, says he’s brought all his workers back for […]

Thai PM warns bars, nightlife not to open, defends ongoing closure order.

Did he forget to add unless it's in Phuket or Bangkok Khao San Road.

Hypocrisy is his main attribute I presume.

Maybe they can mix some blue in with the asphalt when they next resurface the roads of Thailand then 🤭

If there's one lesson to be drawn from the Covid experience globally, it's that career bureaucrats, and that includes all politicians, with guaranteed salaries - curtesy of tax-payer, need to either be removed, prosecuted or at the very least forced to attend, and pass, training courses on how wealth is generated. These parasitic a$$holes have destroyed more lives and livelihoods than Covid ever could.

No the governments have unlimited amounts of money.  They have access to the best and brightest minds throughout the world.  I am sure they will assemble that expertise and conduct extensive research on the covid pandemic.  Those experts will convene and reach a consensus on the most effective and least intrusive measures to stem the pandemic and preserve the livelihoods of their citizens.  After evaluating all the alternatives presented, the politicians will select the best, surest, method that minimizes the economic impact and put that plan into motion.

Of course they will only select that best plan after they have exhausted trying every other conceivable lamebrained solution first.

He seems to have forgotten the key words: don't open unless you have paid off the you know who. What a joke. CM has some parts in lock down now but seems not the ones associated to tourists. Listening to the Health ministry isn't the wisest thing to do.

If they all re open on December 1 what they going to do? Prosecute them all? I do not think so, hell will break lose if they even try that.. PM whatever you say  you cost people a lot of money, for not really a reason,  seems he is not able to make good decision after delaying it several times and give people ALL THE TIME fake hope ( fake hope is same as fake news PRAYUT, TIME FOR YOU TO SIT JAIL) and for once he should  listen to people your shit speeches are to long make you sleepy.. and they boring only thing you say is to cover your own ass.. you think we 5 years old????  And why we have to listen to mister clown 🤡,  only what comes out of his mouth is garbage... the guy is filthy... minister of health equals dirty brainless moron

For if someone missed it.. I have -10000% respect for these clowns, respect has to be earned and they will never earn it, because these  are scumbags first class.. and I do not need to have ever respect for clowns

Still on the plus side the less nightlife operating the less  creeps, freaks, pedos and lowlife sexpats will be slithering around the streets.  So it isn't all bad.  Just saying ..

Maybe there should be a caption under the leading photo of PM..."show me the money" he's rubbing his fingers..... Seeing it is the Government who is mandating the closures, shouldn't they also be compensating the workers???

to warn / scare, to punish / cause anger, never solved a problem in history. but
mention solution, explain, in a easy way, with all details, helps usually always.
-
but governments in the world, are based on corruption, not wisdom.
give high eudcation and very good health, to all millions of people,
will not give money or oppresion-power, to few.
-
this new or old life is based on, love and natural pleasure.
something what certain people never, learned and even "experienced".

Agree.  No just Thailand though.  In many countries it is the frontline workers that suffer the most. Some form of government assistance to compensate for these extended closures would seem only fair and just. The sad reality for most workers and their kids is that this isn't going to happen. Some of the things I've seen throughout Chonburi recently is genuinely heart-breaking. The average Thai worker deserves better.

I haven't missed the booze culture one bit.

In fact its been a breath of fresh air.

Alcohol reform is long overdue in this country and im glad something is finally being done to address the issue.

The PMG seems to overlook the fact that the bulk of potential tourists DO want to drink alcohol, that they do this in their home countries as a normal pastime, be-it when they dine or out in the bars/pubs.  Now for winter-time/Thai high-season Emirates from European countries are wanting around £1000 for a return ticket.. What type of 'holiday' is it gonna be for them to book a stay in Thailand..? A DRY/expensive one that's for sure ..It's not all waterfalls, temples and beaches in the LoS.

Alcoholism and drinking culture in your home country is not Thailand's problem.

Barflys around here seem to have a strangely elevated sense of self-importance. Its clear that theyre completely oblivious to the idea that their kind just might not be welcome here anymore.

They dont want your beer money. They want you to go away so that high quality tourists replace you.

Putting bar owners and staff out of business isnt an unfortunate side-effect of covid policy. Its the plan.

Let me put it in a way that everyone can understand.

They USED to want barfly tourism...and now they don't.

Perhaps find another country that's prepared to sacrifice their national pride for a shirtless farangs beer money.

He only wants the money not the tourists and thinks that would work. Common sense or reflecting something is not at their mindset. Competent people would ask what the tourists want but with a mindset like a 3 year old child this is not possible thats why they cannot reflect or know things like a dialogue. They even cannot realize that outside there are not only Clowns like them and that there are adults outside who are able to reflect what they anounce or do and realizing what kind of incompetent Clowns are in charge. They would be angry on you to realize it and not reflect themself. They even think they can fill up Thailand with rich tourists and all the huge amounts of hotels will be transformed over night in 5 star accomidations or that rich will be prefer low infrastructures and standards before  Monacco, St. Moritz, Singapore, Caribean, maledives, etc etc. They have a mindset that really think you can make the whole Thailand into an high end destination or a Singapire without to ha brain to understand how long it needed to develop such destinations like Singapore with that developed infrastructure or that it neede high skilled and competent people and would need huge of money/invests. Not even realized the difference in size Singapore, Monacco to Thailand. No competence, no skills, no money but they think can be a Singapore now and ordered the rich tourists without asking what the rich tourists want and never been in Monacco etc to understand the difference. By the way the rich would not take any weird restrictions and do would not accept they cannot get their champagner or wine or luxury lifestyle. And by the way they can choose where they fly with their jets. And by the way why all this huge yachts are in the Riviera and not seen in Thailand. Guess why?

The government has plans different than yours. In short they are tired of what you represent. The whole bar scene in Pattaya is an embarrassment to most Thais.  They are aware of what goes on but prefer like most other places to keep it hidden and in the back alleys. Pattaya was way to open and was an embarrassment.

Sorry, but are you really talking about Thai Government?

You know that anything else then Thai isn't gold/blue blooded right and thus has no vote opinion or is even considered an expert. You know this right? So how many brightest minds are of Thai nationality and willing to speak up against the current government.

You not live in Pattaya not live in Thailand and want to tell us what the Thai/ Pattaya people want and not even understand what they say because you not understand any Thai as we could seen in former comments. Someone who think the morlom is something special from Pattaya and they should sent to the Isaan. Our Thai and Pattaya specialist 😅🤣😅

By the way in the last nida poll for Bangkokions the result was 2 % would vote for the ruling gov party in Bangkok. You talking about that 2%? The 98% who not support them are not Thais?

Still having a pop I see.....

So why are the government considering ATK test no go for all vaccinated tourists in December? Let me explain economics to you, less tourists....less money....no 1 million extremely rich tourists visiting for 2 weeks is not going spend the same amount of money as 3 .6 million tourists EVERY month.

You are getting sucked into the "We want quality tourists" propoganda, since when does Bangkok have pavemnets they can walk on hand in hand without bumping into trees...people...carts...fall in holes...stangled by electricity cables...smellly drains...or maybe they going to go to Pattaya where the sea meets Sukhumvit every time there is a storm.

Now national pride....is that Jim Thompson logo for scarfs? cos the Thailand isn't all temples and waterfalls, as you've been told before, you really need to get out and see the real Thailand.....

Where is this national pride residing? ... Red Bull heir hiding out.....Joe Ferrari.....Your exposure to the real world is severly lacking...

By the way the business operators an associations made very clear on their petitions to governer in Chonbury what they want and think and was exactly the opposite of what he is telling.
