A 63 year old Swiss man was arrested for allegedly beating a Thai man to death. Police say the Swiss national, identified as Rudolf, told officers that the man had come to his home, pointed a gun at his head, and demanded money. Officers say Rudolf confessed to beating the man, but did not intend to kill him, adding that he had acted out of self-defence. Police were called to the Swiss man’s home in Udon Thani just after midnight Sunday morning and found 53 year old Sathien Chantarakhantri’s body in the kitchen. A report from Pattaya News says the […]

"Rudolf’s wife reportedly told officers that she knew Sathien and said he had romantic feelings for her, adding that her rejection may have motivated him to threaten her husband."

She claims to have known him for two years .

Its very uncommon for a man to pursue another mans wife for two years and then attack the Husband after no involvement with the woman .

The Police would need to establish whose gun it was and that the Swiss guy didnt unexpectedly arrive home early and also that there was no criminal collusion between both the Thais

Not quite sure how it could be claimed as self defence if the victim was tied up. After all if he was unconscious/dead there would have been no need to tie him up.

He remembered to remove the plastic bags, but clearly forgot to remove the ties 🥴 He will claim the police instructions weren't very clear 🤣

The plot thickens.... There is definately more to this than meets the eye. The evidence at the moment could be read any number of ways....

Yes, what has been told is that the Woman was upstairs in bed .

The Swiss guy was downstairs making a coffee (Which is not a usual bedtime drink , its usually a wake-up/sober -up drink) and its not known when the coffee was made , could have been brewed after the event to sober up a bit ?

A Thai guy suddenly appears , a guy who had a long term romantic interest in the Woman , Thai guy ends up dead .

The moral of the story is just give the guy 500 baht and point him in the direction of the nearest bordello you will save yourself and him a whole lot of hurt.

Yep i agree, one of the rules of living in Thailand, avoid confrontations if you can at all costs because you will lose any claims of defence against a Thai.

What a misleading headline! Anyone entering someon's home and threatening them with a deadly weapon, should be expecting a deadly outcome if it goes wrong, as this one seems to have done! If the account is true, the intruder got what he deserved and the Swiss man should be released.

I wouldn't speculate, but hope the police will come up with the truth of the matter and see justice done.

Why don’t we start two crowdfunding sites. One for the dead Thai man and one for the accused Swiss man. Whoever gets the most money will obviously be innocent 🙃

Even if the account is "true", which is at best highly dubious, that doesn't give the Swiss man or any one else the right to tie an intruder up and then beat him to death - at least not in any civilised country ... or even in a half-civilised one.

What an extraordinary POV.

i think he hit the man, tied him up and he died after.... either way if you can not defend yourself anymore, will be crazy

There's a world of difference between defending yourself and tying someone up and beating them to death.

Or, presumably, between the Swiss husband and his Thai wife which should be an equal possibility if you have an open mind ....

Of course if the Swiss man is wealthy enough then this whole episode will be concluded by the RTP determining that the Thai man beat himself to death.

So what's next?

If you don't like how someone looks at you, you kill them just in case?

Oh, sorry, that was last week .....

Why would the Husband and Wife collude in this instance ?

What could possibly be their motive ?

Money. The Thai wife will get the husband off the hook for the death of the guy she was having an affair with in return for suitable compensation. Only a supposition of course but that's one possible answer to your question.

I did mean the burglary .

Why would the Husband and Wife collude together and organise this burglary ?
