Have to wait and see if adding another "zero" to the compensation will resolve the conflict.

Becoming more common by the week in Thailand!  I would imagine many cases like this where the victim is a simple village person and the culprit has some connections things just dont get addressed by the diligent & moral RTP !

"In a twisted turn of events, the village chief, upon discovering his son’s actions, attempted to squash the issue by offering the family 30,000 baht (US$800) in exchange for their silence and to avoid any legal repercussions. The family, adamant in their quest for justice, rejected the offer and vowed to see the case through to the end."

That would certainly tend to indicate guilt, I hope the family don't accept an enhanced bribe and this piece of dirt gets the jail time he deserves.
