Was particularly hot on Thursday 4th, 

Read 42C in the shade at 14-00.

Just 31 at the mo'.

I don't know about any other windows, but the one in the picture didn't "explode".

Heat build up in cars that are in the sun can be dangerous.  I remember when I first worked in Abu Dhabi, in the UAE, that in our orientation we were shown several pictures of cars that had butane cigarette lighters or phones that had exploded in them.  Temps there were 50C+ just about every day. We were cautioned to be especially careful about what we left in our cars. 

Window shades are a key component for safer cars, in these types of conditions.  Cracking your window just a bit, is also helpful.

Most cars have equalization vents to prevent these events.
