Bluesofa Posted September 16, 2021 Author #60687 Share Posted September 16, 2021 Expedition X: Thailand's UFO Cult (E03) 41 minutes https://www.imdb.com/title/tt15377596/?ref_=ttep_ep3 The Khao Kala Cult It was started by a former Thai military officer (a sergeant major in the army) who has died. His daughter runs it. Same idea as a North Korean dynasty I suppose. As a die-hard disbeliever, once I'd stopped laughing after the first ten minutes, I began to realise just how gullible these people must be, desperately looking for something to believe in. They all want to talk to aliens through meditation. “People learnt how to communicate with the aliens” (quote from the leader‘s daughter) Why did I keep thinking about David Icke? I see the temple is at Khao Kala, Phayuha Khiri District, Nakhon Sawan if you’re gullible and want to go. 3 Link to comment https://talk.thethaiger.com/topic/2208-film-tv-recommendations/page/7/#findComment-60687 Share on other sites

Metaluna Posted September 17, 2021 #61641 Share Posted September 17, 2021 Just recently released (June) and available online is Edge of the World, an adventure film based on the history of our part of the world. It's about the first white rajah of Sarawak, James Brooke. The events influenced Conrad's Lord Jim, Kipling's The Man Who Would Be King, and Monsarrat's The White Rajah. Shot in Malaysia. Hamosity Posted September 17, 2021 #62155 Share Posted September 17, 2021 A couple of quirky indie films Little Miss Sunshine (2006). Esp. Toni Colette who was great in the Aussie 1996 movie Cosi The Fundamentals of Caring (2016) with Paul Rudd Bot sure if they are truly indie films but not big budget nor too superficial If you like opera Cosi is a must and the inmates lead by Barry Otto Re brilliant Link to comment https://talk.thethaiger.com/topic/2208-film-tv-recommendations/page/7/#findComment-62155 Share on other sites

I thought Servant was confusing nonsense. Nell Tiger Free as Leanne, was blisteringly hot though... Edit: I see M. Night was only the Executive Producer. The Night was very good with him as Director. MrStretch Posted September 19, 2021 #63272 Share Posted September 19, 2021 Just finished "Cry Macho" with Clint Eastwood. I was slightly disappointed. Two of the main characters were cast with actors of so-so ability, one being former country singer Dwight Yoakam, who was fairly wooden in his role. Clint's 90...and looks it. Probably the last movie he'll make and while it wasn't outstanding, it was okay watching. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1924245/ Link to comment https://talk.thethaiger.com/topic/2208-film-tv-recommendations/page/7/#findComment-63272 Share on other sites

In a Serbian village without any women the men look to Albania to find a wife. No narration, just English subtitles of the dialogue. German produced by ZDF. Bluesofa Posted September 20, 2021 Author #64468 Share Posted September 20, 2021 The Man Putin Couldn’t Kill (2021) 1hr 26mins https://www.imdb.com/title/tt15434968/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_0 A Channel 4 (UK) documentary about the thorn in Putin's side. Valdimir Putin has had opponents murdered even in Great Britain. In 2020, his goons tried to poison Alexei Navalny, YouTuber turned poliitcian, in the Siberian city of Tomsk. Navalny even managed to taunt Putin from jail. I thought it was an interesting documentary. 1 Link to comment https://talk.thethaiger.com/topic/2208-film-tv-recommendations/page/7/#findComment-64468 Share on other sites
