Top 5 Songs to Make you Think of Thailand
This is debatable, but here is my list. Do you agree or have I missed something? What would you add? 5. Hotel California (Live version, Hell Freezes Over Tour, 1994) In the late 90s and most of the 2000s, there was a trend in a lot of Thai towns for wild west-type beer bars and beer gardens. A lot of the big ones have closed in the times since, but I do remember sipping a cold one and listening to this a few times. Bang Saen in Chonburi province had 10 or 15 of these establishments and one in particular called "Take it Easy Bar", sadly closed now but they had an Eagles tribute band playing there three nights a week. 4. I Gotta Feeling (The Black Eyed Peas) Released in 2009. This is the ultimate "getting ready" song before heading out in Soi Bangla, Nana or Loi Kroh Road. And it usually was "a good night". Can't help but feel positive vibes with this track. 3. Fortunate Son (Creedence Clearwater Revival) This is an older song from 1969. When I first went to Thailand in the 90s, this song was played every time I went to a bar. Popular in the Vietnam War days and with poignant themes, this was a hit with the Thailand expat crowd (and still is to this day). 2. Pure Shores (All Saints) This was the first single from "The Beach", a film mostly set in Maya Bay and released in 2000. This movie inspired many a visitor to Thailand, especially the south, in the decade that followed. I was in Thailand when the song was released (and before the hordes arrived), so this song holds special memories for me. 1. One Night in Bangkok (Murray Head, from CHESS) 1984. In this list (and in any other), the ultimate Thailand-themed song in western pop culture. Lots of Thailand references in the lyrics for insiders. An absolute classic. -

ARGENTINA - Milei’s task: Bringing Argentina’s bureaucrats to heel
Anyone who opposes corruption these days, no matter the country, has an immense uphill battle. Ask Trump. But again, do not make the mistake of holding up the poor innocent citizen as a victim. The citizens have a role to play and have a hand in it all as well. It's called acceptance. For that they can be tried and found to be exceedingly guilty. What's the old saying, "People always get the government they deserve." It's a harsh truism and folks need to look themselves in the mirror.- 1

ARGENTINA - Milei’s task: Bringing Argentina’s bureaucrats to heel
He needs the peoples' backs. Unfortunately the "people" feel utterly powerless to act on their own behalf and in their own interests and thus sit with their thumbs up their arses accepting whatever tyranny is imposed on them. It's not so much a question of bureaucracy as it's that corruption has become unbridled and has evolved into a global syndicate. Bureaucracy is simply one of their means to their ends.- 1

News Forum - Lotto-luck chase: Thai man on wild hunt for lost lottery ticket after jackpot surprise months later
Reminds me of a story of a guy who bought Bitcoin when it was worth next to nothing, forgot about it, and then cleaned out his desk years later where he disposed of his Bitcoin account. Had he had it he would have been worth hundreds of millions. He then tried to get funding to dig through the rubbish site to recover his account.
