It is terribly sad to see that almost every comment on this topic mentioned that this was a forgone conclusion and/or that bribery was involved.

I don't dispute these allegations at all, but it is so sad that this behaviour is entrenched in the society of such a beautiful place that is filled with such beautiful people.

The people are beautiful, but the powers that be have got corruption bred and trained into them as a way of life. They also have the ways and means of backing it up - the police at the court when (before?) the decision was handed down is proof of that.

Thailand’s Constitutional Court reinstated Prayut Chan-o-cha as Prime Minister of Thailand. The court ruled this afternoon that Prayut has not yet hit the eight-year constitutional limit set for his role.

And the beat goes on... corrupt to the soul... karma

They won't need a coup the majority of the senate is hand picked generals that decide who will be pm unless some other general gets pissed off at the current generals in charge

You maybe right on that.

Easier to just change the constitution to unlimited years in office.

Only a few words should be a piece of cake.

Good luck with that. Do you really think that a bunch of genteel-looking thugs are going to give up the soft and lucrative lifestyle just because of a VOTE?

No not really but we can all live in dream land and hope....... look a flying unicorn !
