There really has been a sharp increase in bad drivers in Bangkok - there are now more bad ones than good ones in my experience, at least at night time. They all refuse to use the meter, and some are very obviously drunk or high (which is sometimes hard to tell until you're already in the car and on your way). The other night we rode with a driver who was so drunk he was running red lights - scary!

Police or whoever need to start enforcing meter use and alcohol abuse ASAP. The obviously tampered meter is one thing - but to let a drunk driver stay on the road is criminal - if anyone gets hurt by him then it's directly the officer's fault for not taking action.
