Excessive ganja smoking.

Thai friends are having difficulties with their daughter in her early 20’s. The girl is smoking ganja excessively and becoming unconscious. Father distances himself and increases his alcohol intake. Mother was so worried that she called the police. My questions; can overdosing on ganja cause lasting problems? Recreational use remains prohibited, will the police prosecute for possession and/or refer the girl for compulsory treatment/awareness programs assuming such are available?

Unconscious ? As in fainting so short term? It is known to happen to some.  Or just so stoned sleeps a lot?  Or is there something more than ganja?

Legally speaking, marijuana is a Category 5 drug so possession of personal use amounts would most likely result in a fine or a talking to. The mother can ask the cops,  a local hospital or a temple for help finding rehab. Smoking until passing out is rare if she is smoking your typical Thai weed. “Overdosing” is not really a problem - throwing up is the most likely result of that. She might be smoking skunk or a stronger strain of marijuana and that can create a heavy head stone, not a light giggly stone, and lying down wasted is common when smoking too much of that.
