News Forum - Thailand’s unemployment crisis soars despite tourism boom
I was getting ready to comment something similar. I've seen the same phenomenon in other countries I've lived, where uni grads are still unemployed a year or more after graduation, and for one reason only, they think they're entitled to something greater than an entry level position and salary. Of all the grads mentioned in this article, how many actually studied in a field that would be directly related to the tourism industry? Very few, I'm sure. And those with university aged children know that many wind up studying in programs that they aren't interested in, nor plan a career in, because the placement selection process in this country is fooked to the max. The ability to choose your major is incredibly rare. My stepdaughter graduated with a degree in Chinese language and my son with a degree in Engineering. Neither were they first choices for either of them and surely neither will work in the field of their study. They have uni degrees, and that's it. Thailand needs to revamp its university policies to produce graduates that want to work in their fields and contribute to the growth of the country. -

News Forum - British family leaves UK for Thailand for cheaper living costs
Yes, naivety by the sound of it. I wish them luck in their new life, but it's far from easy here unless you either land an expat package type job, or you are retired/ married to a Thai. There's not much information in the report, but I do wish them well, as outside of the basket case UK is a good move.- 2

News Forum - British family leaves UK for Thailand for cheaper living costs
Good call however this couple has just drawn unwanted attention to themselves with the story. Young couple under the age of 50 moving to Thailand because they can't afford to live in the UK? What sort of visa and how are they funding it springs to mind. Does either of them have a specialist skill to obtain employment in Thailand? -
