It appears that 15 years, or so, is the magic number for political miscreants to return to the country and be embraced or forgiven for mass anti-society events..

First, Thaksin, then this guy and now that group of Yellow Shirts that occupied Don Muang Airport.  It's like there is a political short-term memory phenomenon in this country.

None of us should be surprised when this guy gets slapped on the wrist with a wet noodle, too.

Well, though 7 of the 9 charges he faced have lapsed, the article says the two that are still valid are "involvement in a clandestine society with unlawful aims and in the possession of weapons of war."

For some reason his lese majeste charge seems to be ignored in this article, which seems unusual as those are almost never dropped as quickly as his was, only two years after the incident, but Prayut's National Council of Peace and Order recharged him later.

Pretty soon all the Red and Yellow shirts that were responsible for so much turmoil and social unrest will all be welcomed back or have their charges dropped and the status quo will reassert itself until the next political upheaval.

Coming soon to a country near you.

None of which were proven and all politically motivated. The previous military junta suspended due process did it not? Not trying to replay the old military vs. elected government issues again, nor wishing to argue something we most likely agree 90%+ on, just that I believe he was neither a bad guy nor given to inciting violence.
