His parents were in their 90's

It's not like they were sudden deaths

And it's not like he had a great personality in the 1st place

He obviously doesn't have the grace the Queen had

I doubt that will change but maybe he will grow into it, but again, I doubt it

I also think the Royal Family will be less significant since the Queen has passed, different times now.......

I agree, I've always loved the Queen and would have been more than happy with Diana as Charles Queen, together they would have made it work, as for Camilla parker bowles as consort, well less said, don't want to be hung for treason!

His mother just died. I have to cut him some slack for being a bit edgy.

The Queen needed no slack when her mother died, she was totally professional in the public eye, there lies the difference in standards. Then again she was a woman and a woman of substance at that. May she rest in peace.

Everyone reacts differently to loss and grief

.As sympathetic as one wishes to be, Diana's actions following her separation from Charles reveal her true character. She was the worst possible choice for Charles. Diana was an uneducated simpleton and didn't like being out the country. Charles is an outdoorsy, serious student of farming. He is well read and knowledgeable of other philosophies, cultures and languages. Diana was into her party time at the clubs and was more comfortable watching the telly.  She was a publicity hound, and her later  "charitable" activites were IMO an attempt to manage her image.  Her relationship with Dodie was inexcusable.

Ok, so Camilla is old, and her appearance reflects that. Big deal. She is a private individual and has sustained decades of abuse and ridicule from petty people who judge without knowing all the facts of the relationship. The woman likes animals, can handle slogging through the countryside, isn't shy in public and can manage public activities, all things the emotionally weak Diana was unable to do.

I am Australian so that makes me a subject of the Commonwealth but I believe that there is no longer a need for Australia to be tied to the British monarchy.

The more foolish decisions made like this one will only reinforce my opinion as I'm sure it will do for many others as well.

I am not British and not a monarchist, but if I where you I would have a closer look to the people you voted in like Scott Morrison. This little would be dictator that introduced the most draconian covid measures and secretly assumed 5 additional ministerial portfolios . So don't worry to much about a purely ceremonial king or queen as head of state. Deal with the real and dangerous snakes you voted in.

1. I did not vote for Scott Morrison when he won the election

2. I did not vote for Scott Morrison when he lost the election
