Minister of Public Health Anutin Charnvirakul praised the way Thailand handled Covid-19 in comparison to that of the US. In comments he made recently he said that in the US, many were still unvaccinated and death tolls remain very high, while in Thailand people are following Covid-19 safety rules and bringing the numbers down (though daily infection numbers have generally been on an upward trend in Thailand). Unfortunately CV19 has still some more opportunity to churn and burn in the United States. <deleted content>

1. Most people that come from the USA are only too well aware that Anutin is 100% correct on all this....and I am happy also that Thailand is more safe just as in Panama where I was previous to this where they take Covid seriously as well......nevertheless, many European countries likewise have done a poor job....why all the time the unceasing and unrelenting attacks on USA and Americans and the 'filthy farang'.....why even let them into Thailand if they are all bad/evil/blah/blah/blah....why did the distinguished deputy PM go to an American engineering school for education??

Failed on road carnage though, which has been going on for many, many years...😯

Yes. Thailand failed on drugs, suicide, children drowning, and many diseases too. Not to forget that a successful covid strategy is not only measured in numbers of infected and dead, but also the damage  caused to society by closing businesses and stopping people from living normal lives.

Of course, when you don't want to talk about your own shortcomings, you can always point your fingers at others for the purpose of distraction.

Factual statement but conveniently omits his own clown ran fiasco at the Bang Sue vaccination area which was swept under the carpet by camera angles. I guess you can use the dirty falang vaccines, rubbish their short comings and hide your own.

No wonder he is in politics. Nae well suited for diplomacy.

And he can sue anyone that disagrees with him in the press or on line. Let’s see his statement on handling African Swine Fever , compared to the USA! Maybe even the road toll …. But he never mentioned the down grade on the world corruption listing either ….. is he going to compare everything to the USA?

I think there is a relationship between the total Covid cases and the amount of testing that's been done. It would be interesting to see the amount of testing done in each country as a percentage of the population. There's no Covid if you don't test people.

Generally speaking and excluding public thoroughfares, Thais have a greater respect for life whereas in the USA life is cheap.( paraphrasing a bit here).

A good assessment and conclusion must be based on good data.  However, the data in Thailand is questionable at best.  Thus, stating that Thailand outperformed any other government is opinion, at best.   My opinion, along with many other healthcare administrators, is that no government should be praised for their handling of the Covid pandemic.  The world and her fragmented and compartmentalised institutions, including WHO, were simply unprepared to manage a pandemic.  The politicisation of a health problem only created further disparities, deepening xenophobia, and (thanks to the Pollies) extinguishing confidence in scientific community to solve the crisis..  News and SocMed outlets were complicit in furtherance of bogus claims pertaining to the global health crisis. Even more despicable are those who would exploit a health crisis that claimed millions of lives just to advance their own political ambitions.
