Following an uptick in Omicron Covid-19 cases, Bangkok’s major inoculation centre at Bang Sue Grand Station was packed with those waiting to get vaccinated. Individuals who haven’t received their vaccine are welcome at Bang Sue Station with a walk-in service, while those who want a second or third dose need to register through a mobile network, either AIS, TRUE, DTAC, or NT. Those who want to get a third “booster” shot need to wait at least three months after their second dose. Yesterday, Thailand logged 8,511 new cases and 12 deaths, with 2,605 patients being discharged from the hospital yesterday. […]

Jeez ... if those are 'walk-ins' for a first dose that's a heck of a lot of unvaccinated people.

Alternatively a lot of people who had Sinovac hoping to at least get AZ ...

Interestingly, it takes two weeks after vaccination before the vaccine takes effect (about the same time it takes for Omicron to infect you and for you to pass it on to others). You should only receive the vaccine when you are well. Happy to see more people vaccinated, but you have to time it right for it to have the desired effect. There are a few things that are coming, you might want to consider. First, rapid antigen tests are about to become a rare and much sort after commodity. Second, supply chains will be increasingly interrupted as Omicron, sees more people and their contacts isolating. third, the government will need to change the rules about close contacts to allow those who are asymptomatic, return to work to keep supply chains running. Four, look to what is happening in my country to see what will soon happen in your country.

My friend was asked 5,000 baht if she wanted to know which variant she got 🤣

I guess omicron will be widely underreported, because no one is going to pay 5,000 baht extra for sequencing.
