Omicron is slowly creeping into Thailand. Officials have announced that there have now been 9 confirmed cases of the Omicron variant of Covid-19 diagnosed within the borders of Thailand. Those nine cases have been fully genome sequenced and confirmed that they are definitely the new and highly infections variant. Omicron is believed to be more contagious but less severe than other strains, but the first Omicron death was just recorded in the UK. Aside from the confirmed cases, medical officials are currently researching 5 more potential cases. Dr Supakit Sirilak, the Director-General of the Medical Sciences Department, says those 5 […]

Thaiger says Omicron is slowly creeping into Thailand. Once it's in it will run bloody riot just like the UK.

Yeah with that one death.  Be still, my heart.

all restrictions and quarantines could not stop Delta and now Omicron
will be soon all over the world, even in China

Thailand is no island, and even Australian or New Zealand lockdown failed,
so people have to live with it without panic and should take vaccine
and a booster soon

The South African experience of relatively mild symptoms has occurred in a population that has a very different vaccination & infection profile to Thailand. RSA has a much lower vaccination level but with the highly effective mRNA vaccine, and a 76% pre Omicron infection level in the hotspot province of Gauteng. This is radically different from here where the majority have received the well nigh useless Chinese vax or the second rate AZ one.  So it could easily be that the rampant situation in the UK is a better model, which is a worrying situation.

This is the 3rd mutation.  How many more will there be?  How many booster shots will we need?

There is no end in sight.

The rich countries get vaccinated and the poor countries don't.

That is why this virus and the so called variants will never go away.

We are beyond the point of ending the "Pandemic" and embracing the fact that we have yet another endemic virus, among the myriad of others. Once we stop the testing nonsense, we can end all of this current "casedemic" nonsense. Continuing to name and treat each new variant as some new killer is an unsustainable and unnecessary path forward.

Please Thailand don't get drawn into the UK Boris Johnson paranoia and lies...3 weeks Omicron was discovered, we have 3 cases, next day 9 case's, next day 20 case's, 3 weeks later apparently 200K infections according to modelling...wow by the UKs dramatic coverage that's some increase... plus now we have had apparently the first worldwide Omicron death, but death with??? Omicron or from??? Omicron... this time last year exactly the same paranoia with the Kent variant... FFS
