Next Man Utd Manager?

Recommended Posts

Now then you footie fans . . . Mk2

Or should that be Mk3, after all the excitement and intrigue of the Newcastle and Villa managerial appointments?

But, let's face it, this one is - or at least it should be - a biggy and with the weekend favourite, Zidane, having expressed no interest (poisoned chalice, maybe?) and the interim manager, Michael Carrick, making positive noises, who do you put your money on?

All two-penneths more than welcome, before you-know-who chips his six-penneth into the mix . . . just saying, @BigHewer😁.

Poisoned chalice or not, I'm taking a long shot for Zidane to wait for the ante to improve and then, 'for the greater good of the beautiful game' (or similar media gems), to change his mind, before becoming the most talked about and best-paid manager on Planet Football. Just a feeling 🙄.

Hansi Flick could possibly be tempted away from Bayern but it depends on how much of a war chest the board are prepared to offer for signing new players.

Mauricio Pocheetimno is a bit more of a gamble.

Brendan Rogers is ALWAYS linked with any job that comes up (my Celtic friends claim this so it must be true) so I'll stick his name down too.

Zidane I dont think is interested at all. Swap the lifestyle he enjoys in Madrid for Manchester? Not even maybe.

Great comment, @Rookiescot, especially the Flick possibility and Zidane's probable M/C or Madrid choice 😅! And please, please not BR . . . right from his Swansea success, there was something about him that just didn't click with me and many will agree that his Celtic success was like comparing chalk with cheese, league quality-wise.

Poch is my true favourite but, as you allude to the gamble element, there, I fear the big bosses will go for someone less demanding.

Brendan Rogers tenure at Celtic came at a time when the ONLY real opposition were in a bad way. He never converted that domestic domination into any kind European success. Man U fans will expect both. This should rule him out of the job in my opinion. I only mentioned him because my Celtic supporting friends always link him with any high profile job that comes up.

And as you will be aware. No Rangers fan can let any opportunity to have a go at THEM pass.

If I were on the board I would leave no stone unturned in order to try and secure Flicks services.

Poch can be somewhat, shall we say, difficult in his relationships with other people and players.  Including the media. Could be some headaches down the line with that. Although I for one would lap it up just for the entertainment value.

Flick is now manager of the German National team after taking over from Loew in the summer .. Julien Nagelsmann took over at Bayern from Flick .. Nagelsmann would be possibly a fit for Utd but trying to prise him from Bayern so soon after taking the job there is probably a no no ..

Thank you I must have missed that.

I suspect that takes both of them out of the equation.

OMG its looking more and more like Brendan Rogers !!!@!

The pressure is on KC, just watching developments. Zidane is the best man for the job, no doubt in my mind. Poch being mentioned and might be a good fit, as United have been even more Spursy than Spurs themselves this season.

Then sir we shall have a cyber pint upon whether Zidane takes the job or not?

My money is on him laughing at the entire idea. Madrid. Sun and fun. Manchester. Rain and misery. 😁

I’m in full agreement @Rookiescot, best man for the job but no way he’d take it. I wouldn’t if I were him either. Probably a good thing that I agree with you. I’m already minus 2 cyber pints on this forum thanks to @mickkotlarski😂

Cheers, @yselmike. . . further optimism towards my preferred candidate 😉!

Although never a Spurs fan, I admired pretty well everything he did whilst he was there, including his overall 54% wins stat and despite Levy's disparaging 'disappointing results' reason for sacking him. Big mistake, but possibly a good fit for Utd if Woodward & Co are prepared to put their trust and cash his way.

Ok Im here sorry I missed the post, spoke to a few worth while contacts back in Manchester over the last couple of days,

First off Brenda Rogers is a load of bollicks given who this came from Im inclined to believe it although I think we should sign Leicesters head of recruitment he's pulled some gems out,

Nothing is being said from the United side about Poch it seems it's all coming from his side. I'd take Poch if he flirts off all the so called coaching staff and brings in his own or go and get the best specialist out there.

Zidane first off doesn't speak English, you could say we have enough French speaking players in the team but his wife is against the move to Manchester, not rocket science. he is the most high profile manager available out there, but strangely enough I not convinced he's a good fit,

There is a few names being thrown around like Ernesto Valverde ex Barca as an interim,

Now here's an interesting one Mark Hughes and the funny thing was I heard him being interviewed later in the day and he was asked that question, His reply was there is enough people at United who have his number if they want to call him, as an interim maybe.

Then you have Laurent Blanc

Good morning, @Lowseasonlover . . . glad you're 'still here'!

The one I was leaning to before Ole got the sack was Ralf Rangnick with out doubt a great tactician I get the feeling he is also a bit of a rebel, it's ok with me but would maybe rub the Glazers up the wrong way I dont care about that,

Another strong call, there, @Lowseasonlover, with RR's profile one of striking ups and downs, with many big achievements but a few sackings, too! A rebel, for sure, but, more crucially a strong and influential one, which I'm sure is what the Utd training ground and dressing room is in dire need of. Good call!

I have watched a few interviews and kind of followed him for a few years and his name has popped up but he never went to the so called super clubs, the only thing I can think of he is more suited to the Director of Football roll not an actual manager a couple of years back his name was being mentioned at AC Milan

He also has a bit of a reputation for developing young players which I like, I look at Mason Green wood he doesnt look to have moved on in the last 2 seasons, I follow the youth teams quite a lot we have a lot of young talent in the academy I would hate see all the hard work go to waste,

Sometime I wonder why Nikky Butt walked out he had a job for life
