aladdin Posted November 7, 2021 #101364 Share Posted November 7, 2021 IMHO governments like thione try to appease EVeryone: businesses in all sectors affected by the stagnant economy, AND, the hand flapping crowd petrified of covid.. I think it's here for the long run. As soon as covid runs around the planet and endemic numbers stabilize (IMHO) societies will adapt, reset and tourism will adjust to the New Normal. If one is a hand flapper, stay home. What do you think? I work as a web developer myself and this is one of worst forms i've seen and this says a lot as our own goverment platforms are famous of being shite. I found the Thailand Pass application very straight forward, no problems, 20 minutes was accepted. Get all the necessary paperwork IN JPG FORMAT first, PDFs are no good.. Soidog Posted November 7, 2021 #101376 Share Posted November 7, 2021 Is there any update on the problems with the middle name missing on vaccination certificates in the U.K. and not matching your passport which may have the middle name? I’ve emailed the NHS in the U.K. about it yesterday. I’m not holding my breath mind you….. No, most arrivals will be folk that have long term interests in Thailand and didn't want to quarantine at all and think 1 night is acceptable. Yeap, that is very clear. Not to mention that the 100% tourist will be very reluctant to go for 3/4 weeks holiday in a foreign country where socialising is illegal, having a drink with your meal is illegal, breathing air or doing some basic excercise outdoor without a mask is illegal,...well simple things that, if not possible, make the whole point of going on holiay no sense at all. I just came back home after the 7 day Sandbox in Phuket and a 3 day stop in Pattaya, the whole paranoiac atmosphere and the 24h mask wearing even on the beach coupled with an overall emptyness of the places is simply horrible. Why 100% toursists would go there, I do not get it. And the ones whom do not realise this is what is waiting for them will be soon giving back some grim feedback, no doubt. Until socialising and interacting with others is illegal in the places real tourists do so, bars, restaurants, clubs, etc..., why would they come? To end up being stock in a resort? That they can do in other places where it is easier and cheaper to go with the possibility to simply socialise with others. That's it what humans do, need to do and now for most want to do again. 1 Link to comment https://talk.thethaiger.com/topic/7813-news-forum-thailand-reopening-20000-total-entered-50000-passes-approved/page/2/#findComment-101491 Share on other sites
sdxb Posted November 8, 2021 #101995 Share Posted November 8, 2021 I have an important concern. In the unlikely event that even after successfully entering Bangkok with my QR code and vaccinations I am found to be positive on the pcr done upon arrival then do I have the option of returning back to my country rather than spending 14 days quarantine in Bangkok? Is that possible? 1 Link to comment https://talk.thethaiger.com/topic/7813-news-forum-thailand-reopening-20000-total-entered-50000-passes-approved/page/2/#findComment-101995 Share on other sites

Is that possible? I wouldn’t think so mate. It would be a little irresponsible to knowingly place anyone with Covid on an airline and send them on a long haul flight. (Assuming you are long haul). I think no choice but to stick it out. Also don’t bank too much on it being just 14 days. I know many people here in the U.K. who have had Covid, two of them both exceeded 21 days before they tested all clear on a PCR test. One of them is still feeling the effects of it and he got it back in mid August. It’s something that is rarely mentioned. You do not want to be stuck away from home unless you can afford the time away and have good insurance to cover loss of earning etc. 1 Link to comment https://talk.thethaiger.com/topic/7813-news-forum-thailand-reopening-20000-total-entered-50000-passes-approved/page/2/#findComment-102003 Share on other sites

Soidog Posted November 8, 2021 #102080 Share Posted November 8, 2021 Never thought I’d say it, but I miss the COE. Bring back the COE is what I say. Much easier than this Thailand Pass that’s for sure. Better still, do what the US, U.K. and many other countries m have done and just open up and insist in a preflight Covid test and a test on arrival. Keep it simple stupid! 1 Link to comment https://talk.thethaiger.com/topic/7813-news-forum-thailand-reopening-20000-total-entered-50000-passes-approved/page/2/#findComment-102080 Share on other sites

I have booked for the 17th Nov, but because when I bought the ticket it was more than a month ahead so couldn't book the COE, when I finally was able to do that, I felt encouraged to wait for TP with their promises of max 3 days. Now I was just rejected because they couldn't bother to read my 3 page insurance policy from AIG/Emirates. At least with COE process I felt like it was possible to speak with people and if necessary re-upload documents, with TP it is just feel free to reapply. Not until January so just started ramping up interest in sorting a visa and looking at the TP. Seems crazy that both the e-visa system is utterly ridiculous in terms of the documents you need compared to pre-Covid. And now the TP is just a farce. I’m hoping things will improve soon but not holding my breath. Good luck with your arrangements and travels Link to comment https://talk.thethaiger.com/topic/7813-news-forum-thailand-reopening-20000-total-entered-50000-passes-approved/page/2/#findComment-102109 Share on other sites

Another concern before travelling as many countries including thailand is opening up, how ready and how overwhelmed are the hospitals with covid in these countries? in the unfortunate incident of contracting the virus, will foreigners be treated equally? If in case of critical condition, in need of ICU facilities, will foreigners be equally treated?
