Did you suffer any discomfort or pain with your stones Redbull? I will be at the hospital at 1600hrs for my MRI scan and hopefully will be a little bit wiser by then but as to what the treatment may entail is anyones guess. I have already spoken to my wife about the tube up the John Thomas and a pee bag as being non starters, call me a scardey cat, I don't care.

After todays examination it will have cost me 25,000 baht for diagnostics alone, but I cannot do a thing untill I get my results back later on today, it may be something else that is the problem, I just hope it is not too serious.

Thanks to all who have helped with their advice on this topic, I will update as soon as I know more.

Hopefully all goes well, best of luck.

worst case you have to get some sort of treatment/procedure but as long as you’re healthy after that’s all that matters

Hope all turns out good ME. I can remember my wife being in agony when she had her stones in the ureter.

The acoustic waves worked wonders and drinking upwards of 4 liters of water flushed her of the debris but its a condition I wish on none.

Get well soon bro.

Have you considered that for many this is home ? How do you reconcile paying several hundreds or even thousands of pounds for an air ticket is "getting it for free" and then having to go through all of the issues to return here to your family. Frankly it appears you were more encouraged to have a pop at @Faz than contributing something positive to what potentially maybe a serious medical condition for the OP. At the end of the day whether you think so or otherwise he was offering his experience with respect to the medical facilities and doctors here.

Cheers Gummy. One of our fellow Thaiger forum users is in pain and needs assistance. Its heart warming to see other members offer advice and best wishes. I've seem some nasty comments from Atiger before. Good on you for calling him out Gummy.

Went to the MRI in Chonburi on Sunday for the scan, they told me it would cost 12,000 baht but they didn't account for me being a portly chap and would need more dye pumped into me, so the cost turned into 13,300 baht.

Anyway they found a small 0.5cm stone in my kidneys and a 1cm stone in my gall bladder.

Went to see the doctor at my local government hospital and he has referred me to a specialist at Bang Lamung. But seeing him although I was there for about 4 hours it only cost 50 baht. 😊

100% agree. Hope it all goes well for you.

We tend not to monitor the amount of water we drink but I will always remember my Doctor saying it is the one thing we should do more as it drinking water helps prevent so much, especially kidney issues like stones and others.

OUCH! The 1 cm stone is big. Good to hear that treatment is progressing. Bang Lamung is not far from good quality hospitals and should you get the acoutic wave therapy then after a few days the pain will simply be a memory. Just take a few days to get used to drinking like a camel.

OUCH! Indeed.

I seem to recall that 1' CM or so was the upper limit of being able to use sound waves, but I had mine a while ago, so perhaps that has either changed or I am remembering it wrong.

As noted in my first post, I too had a big stone that was smashed up by sound waves. So, a head's up; at times the sound wave treatment is done on an outpatient basis and they tell you to watch the dust come out as you pee, but larger stones are different. Although mine was smashed up, there were still bits and pieces large enough to cause great damage and discomfort and I had so many bits left after the treatment that they put in a catheter and left it there for three days as I consumed 10+ liters of water a day WHILE being on an IV the whole time.

I mention the para above for two reasons.

First, I was told that I would be doing it on an out-patients basis, but would stay at the hospital for a couple of hours after. After a couple of hours, I still had a disturbing amount of blood in my urine, so the Doc suggested I stay the night. This went on for three days. As I had expected out-patient, I didn't have a lot of stuff that I needed; enough cash, original passport, clothes, toothbrush, etc. and my housekeeper of the time was away. Yes, a small thing and irrelevant if married, but I wasn't and it was already bad enough without all the small irritants.

The second thing was a wee bit embarrassing (and thus funnier).

As I lay in bed for three days with a catheter shoved up my cock, I was treated/cared for by a of group of the most beautiful, sexiest, most desirable nurses ever. And, they were all in their tiny perfect crisp, clean uniforms which I'll admit I find attractive. So, for three days, every time I heard the door opening to my room, I immediately started thinking of the most sexually unappealing things I could, lest I... show my appreciation too much. To this day I still look at cute young nurses with both fear and lust.

Good luck!

Correct me if I'm wrong Shade but don't gallstones come out from the rear whilst kidney stones come out from the front?

Do they pass the catheter up the penis (a penis is like a cock only much smaller) to generate the sound waves?

Hi ME

I am not a doctor and advice on an anonymous Internet Forum...

That said, I think that they both exit out the front. Kidney stones definitely do and as for Gall Stones google is your friend; it is worth spending an hour or two researching on-line ahead of a conversation with your doctor in order to know what to ask and expect.

The sound waves are generated externally and resonate through your skin to the kidney; I assume that gall stones are the same.

The catheter in the cock (cock/penis are interchangeable words where I am from) was to enlarge the... tube(?) to allow the stone particles to exit more easily and to protect the skin inside; as the stones left the kidney and flowed out, they were scraping the flesh and also causing small nicks which would then bleed (see NCC1701's terrible photo from earlier).

Yes, it sounds awful and it wasn't fun, but I was also back to normal and cycling in less than a week.

Cheers

my experience (and recommendation):

find this tea. "luk-tai-bai". It is known as the "stone breaker". Drink a lot of it. (phyllanthus amarus schum. & Thonn)

5 years ago, I got a very painful attack from a gallstone. mri scan showed 2.5cm stone. doktor: out with that bladder! (doktor didn't know I had a teakwood beam in front of my mind!!). So, 5 days hospital, on a drip of antibiotic, the painful gallbladder inflamation subsided and I went home.

personal research on the internet alerted me on this tea and, as mentioned before, also drank every morning apple cider vinegar. the tea every morning and every evening a cup. also drank a lot apple juice. what was highlighted on this "Stone-breaker" tea, that is was very good for kidney stones. I just assumed it would be working on gall stones as well.

The gallbladder is still in, and maybe the stone. 5 years past. My diet has changed. I do not gorge on deep fried food and ice cream. although both i can eat now in small portions. After the initial attack, in 2016, I got 2 more: one on dec5th and one on 31th... both were subdued by immediately taking the tea, which worked wonders in about 15minuten!! On the 5th dec I ate a couple of pa-thong-go (deep fried dough) and on 31th the cause was 2 plates of fried rice...

The acv I stopped after one year, and the tea after 1.5year. any use of cold pressed virgin oil is ok (every day olive oil over salad). It is those deep fried oils which is absorbed in foods with dough (like the crispy chicken).

hope this helps. and good luck with your health

Not sure where you'll find a shop that sells it but I had no trouble finding it on Lazada, there are 20 bags of the 'tea' in each packet, I ordered 3 packets at only 65 baht it has to be worth a punt.

Seems a good price at 6000 baht, mine was 13,300 baht, for a full upper body scan. The hardest part was not swallowing and having to hold the breath for what seemed a considerable length of time whilst the contraption was doing its scan.

Sat here at the moment drinking apple cider with a dash of honey, shaken and not stirred of course.

I see these teas (many different herbs) on markets, but also some pharma shops. Since I needed a lot, in that time I ordered a box from lazada. I forgot the amount but it was something like 20 bags.

I got kidney stones 20 years ago. agonizing pain. Hospital did a scan and half hour later again. this revealed that the stone was on the "move". They suggested (in that time) something with soundwaves to destroy the stone. Lucky for me, I pied it out 2 days later (was scheduled 3 days ahead). Send the stone to the lab. Was calcium based. reduced my calcium intake a lot (diary). Never came back.

I drank also a lot of the pure apple juice (from concentrate) from brand mali. they have 1 liter and small packs (also at 7-11).

The doctor prescribed me Ofloxacin which unfortunately I have had to stop taking them, it is causing a very bad case of the Delhi Belly and the Rangoon Runs, I dare not risk an uncontrolled backfire.😀

a friendly suggestion. if i was passing blood i would become far more proactive and know the answers to these questions and more. do you have a blood test result printout from the hospital? what are the results of your kidney and liver function tests? the values can be googled and can give you insight to various issues. that way you can talk to your doctor and ask questions.

PSA stands for "prostrate specific antigen"

If you have stones you need to watch you hydration. Drink lots of water and restrict caffeine (coke,Pepsi and coffee). Alcohol needs to be restricted as it's a diuretic.  In hot weather it becomes important to watch hydration, so that your urine is not overly concentrated. Dark urine is a sign of concentration, but there are other causes for dark urine. If you are on high blood pressure medication take to your doctor because some include a diuretic.

Number one is to talk to your doctor.
