News Forum - Five US police officers charged with murder over fatal beating of black man
I do have some sympathy with this view. As I said before, if I’m stopped by the police I don’t argue. I would have my hands visible at all times. If told to put my hands behind my back I would do so. I would lay down and body relaxed so they could cuff me if they thought I was a threat. I would break free after a struggle and run away. As with the George Floyd incident, the guy was not complying with instructions. Now, he may well have had some reason to fear what would happen. Perhaps he was concerned they would plant drugs or some other issue? -

News Forum - Thailand tourist fee: 300 baht via air, 150 baht via land/sea
And you know this how? Based on your own opinions of forgiving most things wrong in the country? You know this by assuming the only people who get offended or think it’s just the wrong thing by such sharp practice are old white expats? You underestimate how people perceive such things. Not everyone is apologetic for such blatant attempts to extort money and demonstrate short sighted and immediate financial gratification. Below is an extract from a report issued by the Maldives tourism board. Not all countries are as blinded by immediate cash as the Thais. Some have a more balanced, progressive and broader perspective on how to develop a nation. Take a read. Moreover, a mix of tourism tax policies tends to raise tax revenue but can have a detrimental impact on the economy, focusing on tourist arrivals and competitiveness. However, the current study argues that merely imposing tourism taxes is not a sophisticated tool of public policy in countries that largely depend on tourism if such countries’ objective is to boost inbound tourism and, by extension, contribute to their economic development. As a small island economy dependent on tourism, this paper illustrates that the volume of inbound tourism to the Maldives is adversely affected by tourism tax and is a protracted problem that requires careful modeling and analysis of public policy options rather than crude and unsophisticated policy instruments such as introducing new tourism taxes or increasing the rate of existing ones. -

News Forum - Krabi hotel accused of favouring foreigners over Thais
If you pay to stay in a hotel, you should reasonably expect to be treated the same as all other guests It's literally why you are paying to stay in the hotel................. I would say I spend more than your average guest, at pool, lobby bar I don't think other guests who don't spend the same amount should be treated any worse than myself Yes, the person booking the penthouse suite will be treated a bit special, but there is a base level that every guest should receive, and it didn't appear that was given -

News Forum - Five US police officers charged with murder over fatal beating of black man
They are wearing police uniforms ergo they are the police. The crux of the issue is if the guy had actually got on the floor and put his hands behind his back would he be alive today? Yes or no?- 1

News Forum - Five US police officers charged with murder over fatal beating of black man
NO! That is the crux of the issue, that people like yourself think someone needs to comply to acts that aren't proper police acts Those weren't a police act, it was gang assaulting someone............... He is in fear for his life, you can't expect someone to then comply Some might, but you can't expect that...................
