A Singaporean woman who repeatedly refused to wear a face mask in public spaces has been sentenced to a 16-week jail term. According to a Coconuts report, 54 year old Phoon Chiu Yoke has pleaded guilty to 9 counts of breaching Covid-19 regulations. This woman went out of her way to flout the regulations and paid the price.

While Singapore is one of the most draconian of the SEA nations, if you live there, you know that, so I have no sympathy for this buffoon.

She got what she deserved.

You might dislike the rules, but repeatedly ignoring them with the risk that carries, in terms of legal action?  She must be either insane or stupid.

Probably both 🤔

The woman got what she deserved. There is no excuse for not wearing a mask. It's pure selfishness and self-centeredness. She is endangering the lives of people that may be older and have a medical condition

Yes, some people, eh . . . not so much as a thought.  And your debut post too, so thanks for that!

She was REALLY lucky. ….. She could have been in Vietnam

or is it because she was a woman she was let off lightly?

Contentious.

Probably because, unlike the case in Vietnam, no-one died as a direct result.

The sooner these people are made to realise that they're responsible for what can happen, the sooner everyone can stop having to wear masks, suffer lockdowns, and return to normality and the "freedom" they're bleating about.

Far from being the solution they think they are, they're the problem.

I know a farang teacher in LOS who refuses to wear a mask anywhere, in the class, in Tesco, in hospitals.

Considering has  lived and worked here for years, l find it very foolish to stand your ground over a mask and risk losing everything. Crazy..

Pus, nobody says a word about it.....🤔

The sooner they're ejected and blacklisted the better before we all get tarred with the same brush by these idiots.

Just obey the tyrannical rules, the tyranny will go away that way! Oh yeah, that is how it works every time! 🤣

You're confusing "tyranny" and "tyrannical rules".

The two are far from synonymous, however much you may like them to be.

Show me the Study That says that masks work. It’s a political statement of compliance, nothing else. The world health organisation turned on a sixpence, rubbishing wearing of masks for a 20 year period up to the 9th of April, then completely changing their mind two days later. They might be a help for diesel fumes, but at 0.12 of a micron in size, unless you stop breathing they are pointless against Covid . Incredible how many sheep with lack of any critical thought post on here. Compare the countries around the world with when they use them and when they don’t and you could easily come to the conclusion that they increase transmission. When France and Spain made them mandatory cases skyrocketed. This woman seems more aware of the futility of wearing the and has a backbone to fight back against the insanity

Yes, incredible isn't it. I take it you're advocating non-compliance?

I have a job going at the ICU. Shall I sign you up?

Enjoy your day.

Mask wearing is working well isn’t it? Completely stops transmission doesn’t it? It doesn’t make a jot of difference. Some very dim uninformed people on here.
