Well said, Gummy. Existence in their Farang circle/bubble just adds to their total lack of understanding and knowledge about most everything here. Experiencing and exposure to everyday interaction, exclusively, with the good Thai is much more everyday educational than the predictable and weary made up stereotypes regarding.

Seem ok. I think the test cost about 350 baht each. My friend get 1000 baht per day. About 20 worker there. Must pay for glove, other equipment, PE clothes, lab tent etc. Rubbish.
And have truck service free if positive result to take to Phuket hospital. Pay for truck, fuel etc.

Yes, I am talking about the beginning,  where the price was 300, but just after that announcement, the Gouvernment in Bangkok took over the cost for the Thai people, so only Foreigners had to pay. And they switched the price to 500.

Which would have been a double proven ..... (bad word with r), in case they would have changed it, now, with Thai people paying on their own,  back to the first "calculated" price of 300.

If they would have to pay taxes on income, not just on guesswork by tax officers, or business on wheels woyld have to pay taxes at all, the Ptb probably c/would even order Biontech and Moderna plus test everyone who need to be and everyone who want to be testet, without fearing cuts in there own incomes!

I think should pay if get test. I not have problem pay for something I have. Is fair way. 

if I need test, and somebody other person not need test...why should other person pay for me? I not communist.

Some felangs think that they are really rich and they want Thais to pay for their tests

What is the point of testing?

It just ends up in a 2 week lock up with dozens of other people

And after two weeks, you get freed without another PCR test.

And what if, as is becoming more likely, you have had the vaccine and test positive?

Can someone explain what is being achieved with this testing, except to provide data for the daily fear index

Good point - I would think that each Thai person should get a certain number of free tests, then after that they pay. Thais are very good at 'scams' - they have to be because they get nothing from Govt or Wealthy. Thais were going on overseas trips and then getting a free 14 day stay in quarantine hotels upon return, so the Govt stopped that and made them pay.  There are hundreds of Thais this week protesting that they have not been paid covid insurance money payout - not because they all got sick and needed hospital and have bills (some did) - but because they caught covid so now they want the money.  Free for tourists and free for Thais 2? times - but they pay after that - everyone has an ID card - use that for keeping records.

Mate - you are so right - all good Ying - but soidog is right. Early days in Thailand I once came across a sports store in a mall - it was not in a good spot - tucked away and hidden (no signs). So I checked out their golf stuff - a bit over-priced.  But I thought (rationally) that they are not going to do well back here - eventually they are going to have to put on a sale to attract customers - I will come back and check prices later. So I did about a month later, and the prices had all gone up! So I checked again in another month, and the prices had all gone up again!! By now I was completely stumped, but I looked again in another month, and the store was closed. I asked the wife why did they not do a 'sale' and drop prices - she said they only had small number of customers so they put up prices to make more money!!

Why are we forced to do 3 PCR tests when staying locked inside a hotel room for 14 days?

I'm in ASQ quarantine, not allowed to leave my room, no contact with the hotel staff. Yet we do several expensive lab tests, measuring temperature two times a day. For what? We have no contact with the hotel staff at all.

Traveling to Europe you don't even need to quarantine. Offering quick covid tests (free or paid doesn't matter) would have made it possible for restaurants and gyms to remain open.

It's the same problem we're having with visas. The Government is not updating their covid measures in a timely matter. For example vaccinated or not doesn't matter. You got a negative result, doesn't matter. 

Imagine the money Thailand would have saved paying for vaccines instead of losing money from restrictions. But as long as the rich and powerful benefit it won't change.

Going from Thailand to Europe you would have some quarantine measures , 100 000 Baht for a ten day  stay in a U.K quarantine hotel when arriving from Thailand

Because they did not change that, from "wild type " of covid, incubation time up to 2 weeks, sometimes even longer, to Delta: 3-5 days max!

What caught my eye in this story, was the official who stated his concerns that Russians were now going to Venezuela because of restrictions imposed in Thailand. Really? Good for them.

I admit I am not a fan of the Russians I have met in TH who are rarely pleasant, but it says something about the Russians (though I am not sure what) that they would rather travel to country where people use the local currency as an alternative to toilet paper. https://lifeinsaudiarabia.net/venezuelas-currency-is-so-worthless/

I reckon any traveller's who wish to travel into Thailand should pay for their test. Irregardless of entry policy if the country opens up (the number of PCR test with quarantine or no PCR test without quarantine). 

Free tests in my opinion should be for those residing inside the country that has suspected covid virus. I believe the government should help the residents on this one. It is also part of the country's governance to control the spread of the disease.
