USA faces criticism from China for leaving Afghanistan in an "awful mess".

Nah they got it from Joe Biden including brand new assault weapons, anti-tank Missile, hundred of humvees and anti-mine trucks, new airplanes and 150 Blackhawk helicopters along with Begram Airbase and Kandahar Airbase

Recent kit they are armed with is American stuff they have appropriated but they have for yrs been supplied with Russian and Chinese weaponry as this has been a proxy war like most of the others since WW2 that involved either Superpower with America portrayed as the aggressor this time .. and it's no coincidence that China were quick to recognise the Taliban after they took over hopeful of nurturing good relations with them for economic reasons ..

Army's near obsession with gay rights, Stonewall ratings, and Pride participation and rainbow flag waving over the last 20 years which it would have been impossible for you to have missed when you served

Yes Stonker the ban on being Gay was lifted in the year 2000 if my memory serves me right considering I served in the Infantry from 1988-2012 it was something that never really affected me during my time in the Army and even now after 21 years of the gay ban being being lifted we've only ever recorded one coming out within my Battalion and she was an AGC Clerk attached to the Battalion but nice of you to enquire.

China, AK47'S? I think not.

Type 56 assault rifles are Chinese copies of the AK47 , Type 80 gpmg's are Chinese copies of the Russian PKM and the Type 69 are Chinese copies of the ubiquitous Russian RPG7 .. All of these weapons have been recovered from the battlefield after firefights with the Taliban .. under the counter shipments they may have been but it would be naive to think that China has not be supplying weaponry as this has been a proxy war like many since WW2 ..

I wasn't "enquiring" - just observing that your  ignorance of it, whether it affected you or not, seems more than a little odd since you couldn't fail to have been far more aware of it when serving than of whatever American embassies were up to regarding "Gay Gangbang flags" and so on.

For at least half your service it was (and is) a major feature in the British Army's guidelines - in all units, except apparently yours.

FWIW, you're correct and the supply of Chinese arms to the Mujahideen and then the Taliban is well documented, as well as the supply of massive amounts of Western arms to the Mujahideen by a variety of means from various sources.

Yes I was aware of this fact from various briefing I received during  my service but at the time as it still is it wasn't a major factor with my Battalion.

What I was insinuating to the OP was sad day for the Democrat Party and the Biden administration when the Secretary of State ordered that BLM & Pride Flags be flown from US Embassies and reference the  Pride flag I believe it was flown at certain Embassies and not flown at others in a deliberate attempt to antagonize certain religious groups while on the other hand not flown at the Embassies of other certain religious groups as not to offend them.

And as for the BLM flags it was probably flown to antagonize decent people too.

Indeed they did .. in the early yrs of the Soviet occupation the U S initially covertly shipped Russian kit seized by Israel from their foes in the Yom Kippur war along with Russian weaponry from the Egyptian's when they buried the hatchet with the U S and upgraded to American arm's back to the Mujahedeen to continue the fight against the Soviets but I think about the mid' 80's they quit the covert operation and started supplying the Muj' quite openly including Stinger anti aircraft missiles which were a game changer as now the hated and feared Mi24 helicopter gunships were also vulnerable and without guaranteed air superiority they found it increasingly difficult to move around ..

The U S should've kept notes though about the Russians experience on how difficult it would be to try and pacify a guerilla army in one of the most inhospitable countries on earth no matter how much high tech kit you've got ..

Astute observation, you may also notice that certain groups in America do not criticize the religion of peace over racism, sexism, homophobia etc and there is a very good reason for that. Unlike say your average white male they constantly attack or the Christian church, they know that there actually might be a cost to attacking a certain group as Charlie Hebdo showed us.

You do know it was the trump white house that started this whole withdrawal process,  I assume in spite for losing the election.

Not saying, the end couldn't have been handled better, but the cards where already dealt.

You want to know what Trump would’ve done?

He’d unleash fire and fury. Allow foreign mechanics to service Afghan Air Force. Sent special operations specialists along with Afghan special commandos to assist with air strikes. Drop the MOAB 2nd deadliest weapon to a nuke on the Taliban.

Can you tell me what Joe Biden will do? I’ll give you a hint youre seeing it right now…

Thanks for that. I didn't now.

There is no question the USA left Afghanistan in an awful mess.  Now with that said, I didn't hear any pronouncement that the Chinese were sending in their military to show the USA how to clean up the mess and handle the situation correctly.

Again, your ignorance of the British Army and even your own bn (1RW), seems odd.

Pride flags have been flown across British Army units, not just from US Embassies, as anyone who served in the last couple of decades couldn't fail to be very well aware as it was highly controversial - and unpopular with many serving gays, who didn't and don't want to be singled out for special treatment or recognition.

Sexual preference isn't "recorded" for anyone in HM Forces, contrary to what you wrote, including 1RW. It's strictly against policy to do so.

There have been openly gay soldiers in 1RW both pre and post amalgamation, while you served, who marched in Pride and are easily identifiable as such in the photographs - not just "an AGC Clerk attached to the Battalion".

The British Army doesn't refer to "HELO's", as you did, although the American forces do - it refers to "hels" or, frequently albeit incorrectly, "helis" ... and hels are "airframes".

I'm not interested in being confrontational, but it's all a bit odd and far from representative of the British Army (although, TBF, you've never suggested it is).

Why does everyone trust the Yanks about this?

They're the only nation to have dropped the bomb on anyone. Twice.

Please PM me with details Stonker my old China because I  can't think of one (only a case of a Pl Sgt from 1RRW in ITC Catterick back in 2002) but that was more a case of sexual and physical abuse of recruits.

HELO is a technical term heli or hels is Soldier slang

If you'd like anymore advice on The British Army I'd be happy to give you any information on the matter Stonker bud.

Photographs of the Pride parades are readily available open source. I expect even you would would be able to identify someone from your cap badge by the budgie.

Incorrect. It's the American term, not the British military / MoD one which is Hel. Very easily verifiable via the MoD published lists.

You're "advice" and "information" is simply wrong - I can't be bothered to speculate as to why, but anyone who doesn't know that a helicopter is an "airframe" or that sexual preference is not "recorded" by the British military is hardly likely to be in a position to know very much about it, whatever their claims.

Glad I left before it became compulsory.....

And as for the Light Blues,

Actually her name's Chloe, although when she first joined the Scots Guards it was Ben.

We don't wear budgies we wear hackles for all ranks from FUS to C/SGT.

Have you completed a Heli Handler/Marshall Course ? I've have as a Cpl and a CQMS.

Have you every directed a HELO from the air to the ground or used the flashcard on the back off your notebook?

Ref HELO a nine liner is an American term but we've used it for many years for CASREP's.

But if you want a nation even more stupid to irradiate the world , other than by accident of course, then Israel would strike me as a greater risk to civilization.

I can confirm that unlike the rest of the planet Thailand has not taken umbrage with the americans afghan debacle - only this morning I phoned Bangkok Bank and whilst on hold they played The Yellow Rose of Texas Rolf Harris stylophone style!

Peace.

Wait.

China doesn't realize who they are getting into bed with.

In a few years, the disaster that the Chinese will have wrought in Afghanistan will become visible and their hundreds of millions of dollars wasted in an empty attempt to influence the country and the region.
