The National Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology, known as BIOTEC, believes that the solution to Covid-19 vaccination may be right under our noses. Thai virologists at BIOTEC have 2 nasal spray options currently in development for domestic production that may act as a substitute for Covid-19 vaccines in needle form. They believe a nasal spray or inhaler may provide additional benefits as well. Covid-19 vaccines traditionally stimulate antibodies in the bloodstream after entering the body via intramuscular injection. But Covid-19 is generally spread through respiratory droplets that enter the body orally or nasally. A nasal spray could deliver protection […]

This could be a groundbraking advance in fighting this pandemic. Fingers crossed it turns out to be effective and safe.

There are already a nasal sprays being marketed with similar claims. Guess they just copied it and and are now claiming it as their own.

i think such a spray that u buy and apply yourselve at regular times ( example once a month ) is much better than to inject a gen cocktail into your blood stream...would love to hear more details... maybe someone could post a link to the existing available sprays

Some of the large Pharma companies have been working on this for over a year running a series of trials. Whilst none have found anything like adequate efficacy the trials and research continues. The best of luck to BIOTEC, they might develop something with therapeutic levels.

@Guevaraspot on... but Sadly the high antibody levels are not sustainable and short lived, that's what these companies can't overcome .. but we'll done Thailand for copying again someone else's vaccine!

You don't even feel the needle, are they going to call the spray Forsythia ?

With the advertising slogan “ Hope you all joined in at home “?

The European nasal spray: Its active substance, iota-carrageenan, is thought to exert anti-viral activity through its interaction with the viral surface

The Thai trials are with Adenovirus (1) and Gene splicing (2)...

The only thing they are copying is the method, not the contents.

Why on earth do you not just get on with the problem at hand. Divert all resources to vaccine production, purchase and roll out.

Yesterday there was a piece on the government giving permission to the private sector to buy and import, I think it was 25m doses of good vaccine that works (not cheap Charlie Sinovac).

If these shots are truly available. Then put your hand in the government coffers and buy them yourself for your people. Or is it that Thailand does not have the riches so often decalared.  If that is the case then admit it and ask for help.

Your people need to be vaccinated now. They should not have to borrow, yes borrow money because you know that is what they will do to purchase a vaccine that works. Failure to jump on this now will almost certainly deliver another variant. Born in Thailand.

divert all resource into manufacturing, find out what good vaccines are available soonest, then put your hand in your back pocket and buy them (whatever it costs). Tell private medical organisations that they must assist the government in the roll out, for free and that their licence to operate in Thailand depends upon it.

the world can see this. If the private medical companies can buy it. SO CAN YOU. give your people what they need. Do not make them pay for it.
