"Pichit was known for being the lawyer of former PM Thaksin Shinawatra during the lunchbox cash scandal, which resulted in his imprisonment for attempting to bribe the Supreme Court.This past conviction has raised concerns about his suitability for a ministerial role."

Given the institutional corruption in all levels of Thai politics it seems to me that a previous conviction for bribery would be more of a reccomendation for office than a bar to it.

Considering Pichit has already resigned this sounds like a lot of virtue signaling on the part of the Court.

Face is everything.
