A coincidence that the government are seeking some sort of reimbursement on Yingluck’s failed rice price fixing scheme at the same time as Thaksin is pushing for her return? I think not. Sretha tried to offload the rice to the Thai army- they said ‘no thanks’.

Was there not a study that said the 'Rice Scheme' was economically sound?

Yingluck tried to help the poor. Very well thought of in these parts (Isaan).

If 10 year old rice is not good to eat? What about turning in into fish, or pig food.

As I recall it, Yingluck tried to artificially raise the price of rice on global markets by withholding supplies. What she failed to anticipate was the shortfall in supply would be filled by India, leaving Thailand with a surplus of rice without a market.

Can you imagine the public relations nightmare for Thailand if this rice makes people ill?

It won't be about "rice stored in a warehouse for 10 years", it will be about "Thai rice".  All Thai rice.

Obviously, as seems to be standard operating procedure these days, the government doesn't have any concept of the consequences in the long run.
