Is there any jungle in Phuket?

The word nowadays means tropical rainforest, although originally it meant only the dense understory in any forest, 'jangala', rather than a type of forest - and there is little 'jangala' in a true tropical rainforest, because of its closed, light hungry canopy of living branches and leaves, outcompeting vegetation far, far below. Phuket has a monsoon climate, my guess is there was monsoon forest there, but it was cleared from the island for plantations.
