People say Thailand is degenerate, but really, would this even make the news in Britain, where it would be normal? Local rags only.

The entire article is screwed-up. It says a 26 year old former boxer unleashed a seris of Muay Thai moves on the teenager.

Then later part only mention about the 15 year old victim Asawrin Suffered critical injuries and hospitalised in Sautek

And in the final part Asawrin Acknowledging her jealousy and intoxication, Aswarin expressed remorse but feared her apology would not be accepted given the severity of the injuries.

Now who attack who? A typical screwed-up report.

I think the assailant is Asawrin aka Rin. The victim is a minor so probably not named for legal reasons.

Could be a possible reason. But if you read the article, it is totally messed-up writing. That is what I am trying to indicate. There is no consistancy in the flow. It is all jumbled up like a smashed potato.
