More debt is not the solution.

Debt to invest is a standard business approach and access to debt capital is essential for small business growth.  Government loans are often low interest or interest free, over extended periods, so this is one of the solutions.

You're not thinking like a Thai. Pragmatically, here, in most cases the 300k will be squandered in no time and lead to more problems. Very bad idea IMO, but having seen the Thai prime minister visiting Macron recently and having heard the language he uses, it is clear he wants to turn Thailand into a debt-based society.

Hmm I hope there will be some sort of checks on what the money will be used for otherwise I can just see people becoming saddled with a debt they are unable to pay having spent it unwisely to 'gain face' with their peers.

Who cares about that....Politicians....not until cow comes home. That is the global phenominan. They are only concern about winnning their next election and secure their place in the parliament. Anyway those debtors will end up in jail due to bankruptcy....yet still they will get free meals and accomodation for their entire tenure in the jail and will be back walking on the street eventually. That is the reality

Better to put infrastructure in place to help people.

I drew up a plan some years ago where a 50 metre wide canal was constructed from the Mekong west of Nong Khai, going south to Khorat, then east back to the Mekong.

Took into account the topology and towns along the way. Gave it to the boss in Ban Dung planning.

Alternatively; why not GIVE the farmers the dosh to have them build their own solar systems; under a new supervised scheme. Plenty of sun in Thailand.

Thailand just needs people with a bit of imagination and purpose in charge.

That was the philosophy of King Bhumibol… Dearly missed.
