Southern border will be packed because Hari Raya falls on 10 & 11. So naturally Malaysian will take Friday off and they shoot to Southen Thailand to spend 5 full days

"In addition to reviewing operational preparedness, Itthipol Itthisarnronnachai and Songprode Sirisukha also took the opportunity to distribute gifts to the immigration officers..." as opposed to the gifts I was asked for when crossing the border at Padang Besar, prior to the pandemic.  My wife wouldn't play that game.

Raya, coinciding with Songkran, is a boon locally. I'm happy for the hoteliers, restaurateurs, and merchants in Hat Yai and Songkhla, but will avoid the crowds and stay home.
