Well clearly it depends on how much time you are spending  here. The leasing type arrangements that you see in the UK and US are not available here, so long term, buying is the answer. Car sharing for some individuals works here.  I have two friends who share a car between them.  Not sure of the practicalities of that, but they spend large amounts of their time outside LOS, so it works for them, as they are rarely here at the same time.
