I wish him a speedy recovery. It's a shame to see people have this type of ailment at such a young age, especially as he seemed to be quite health-conscious, exercising regularly and making sure he was fully vaccinated against Covid-19.

exercising regularly

that was his biggest mistake,

exercising regularly doesn't make you more healthy, it will just used up your body faster

walking 1km or 2km however is a necessity and sufficient, even thought technically it's not exercising

serious studies have demonstrated that exercising often and too often will shorten your life span

of course that doesn't mean you should do anything all day

What was his biggest mistake is up for debate.

I agree over-exercising is bad for you, I know a guy who is in his early 50s, very much into cycling, Ironman competitions etc., and his body is prematurely worn out, joint problems, back problems etc.

But regular exercise, the way I do it for instance (2x 30-minute jogs per week) is good for you and is good for blood circulation.

yes, perfectly reasonable, though after 40 or 50, 1x20min per week should be more than enough

walking 1h or 2h per day is less intense on the joints, and you can do this without risk until you are 90

There is nothing surprising here.  The patient was near a common age for a cardiac event, ages 50-60.  Atherosclerosis has a genetic component and it starts at an early age. No one here knows of his health history and whether or not he has relatives with heart disease, or has a history of alcohol or drug use, even if he takes his health seriously now. No mention of his blood pressure either.

The article references his reporting to hospital where he had "surgery". This suggests that a stent was used to open the blockage. No mention is made of which artery was blocked. If he had a left ventricle event (the widow maker heart attack), he most likely would have been dead. A blockage in a minor artery or vein, is survivable and sometimes not even treatable.

He'll be on plavix for a year and then on 81 mg of aspirin for the rest of his life.

Indeed.

In any case, I have never heard of exercising causing clogged arteries.

He posts pictures of himself eating Thai food on Instagram, and this is not the type of food that causes clogged arteries, quite the contrary.

A post on Instagram describes his diet for 51 years. The real metrics are his Apolipoprotein B and HDL levels.

He used to be in a band with a woman named Christy Gibson, who like Jonas was of European extraction but had lived most of her life in Thailand.

She's got a splendid voice and mainly sings Thai country music. Here's her and Jonas together.

What's that please?

This acronym means "anything but the vax" and is used when faced with people who are awkwardly tiptoeing around the elephant in the room.

To be clear, I am not saying this is definitely the cause of his ailment, but that its probablity ranks higher than eating Thai food or overexercising.
