Sadly this type of story and other motor accidents is hardly news anymore with Thailands appalling Road deaths Record, just an everyday occurrence, 

and everyone who has driven in Thailand knows the reasons, total disregard of any good driving standards, lack of safety equipment on motorcycles, underage riders and drivers no licences and insurance and the reliance on Bhuda to keep them safe.

No one can change the mentality of such people. Recently  I was riding at Khon Kaen and at the traffic junction nearly 50% are did not wear helmet. There are 4 police officers at the junction at each corner stopping those without helmet and advising and counselling them about the danger of riding with helmet. To the irony, some kept their helmet in their motorcycle basket and are riding as if they are protecting the helmet.
