Being overly optimistic is a disease which too often plague government officials in Thailand. For the most part, they couldn’t hit their “target” or forecast if it bit them in the….behind. But then competence isn’t a requirement for politicians, just enough PAC money to bribe their way to office.

Giving China visa free entry solves nothing, as Chinese stay in groups and can only spend money at Chinese merchants! Bad move.  Russians are overstaying their visas and running out of money. Now what? Why didn’t you give visa free entry to England, Australia and America???

I keep saying it, but a quick fix is to provide 60 or even 90 day day on arrival visas to trusted foreign countries. 30 days is an absolute waste of time to administer.

Totally agree on trusted foreign countries.  All the many years of support and ongoing investment, remittances etc. The Uk should be one such country, but treatment of the UK is a disgrace. Thailand’s economy wouldn’t be anywhere near what what it is without 50 solid years of investment and tourism.

Meanwhile theyre trying to court Chinese groups and handing out 60 day stays to the Russian draft dodgers.

Can’t see the forest for the trees.

Here's an idea to generate money for the Kingdom: abolish the TAT and let tourism run itself. Auction off the TAT dartboard that has been used for decades to incorrectly predict visitors' numbers. 🤪
