The Thai PM says the country’s worst Covid-19 outbreak since the start of the pandemic should be over in 2 or 3 weeks, maybe 4. The Bangkok Post reports that Prayut Chan-o-cha was addressing a Cabinet meeting yesterday and has instructed all relevant agencies to keep the public updated on the ongoing crisis. Thailand has continued to report new cases in 5-digit figures for over 10 days now, with deaths regularly over 100. Today, the Kingdom has reported another record high of 16,533 new infections and 133 deaths. According to Sathit Pitutecha from the Health Ministry, the PM says the […]

Prayut, pleases define what you mean by crisis will be "over". "Over" as in >10K,>5K, or >100 cases in Thailand? Anyone can say that crisis is "over" depending on how you define it. When it the daily cases drop to 10,000, he can say that crisis is "over" too.

Wasn't he the one who said in April that "whatever will be, will be" when he was challenged about not controlling the inter provincial travels during Songkran? These words had come back to haunt him.

I should mind my own business less Prayut with attack me with his antiseptic spray like how he did to the journalists. LOL.

could this be doublespeak. If in the next 2 or 3 weeks we go into total lockdown it would fit the parameters of his statement

I don't think the PM's denial about the seriousness or likely duration of the situation is going to fool anybody!

Well, that's the most positive view about Covid I've heard so far.

The man is a total plonker, he has been saying for months, everything is under control.

If what is being reported in the news, is under control, well words fail me.

Over in 2 or 3 weeks, jesus what a clown making stupid statements like that.

Oh stop man! Do you not realize nobody is listening to you anymore? You are the laughing stock of the nation. Perhaps one of the most tragic figures in Thai history. Maybe even the entire region, and we are talking about a region with alot despots and failures.

Prayuth has zero credibility, on any level. He is stunningly incompetent, and has long overstayed his welcome. And now, he has failed the nation miserably with this latest wave, which could have easily been avoided, had some precautions been taken by locking down Samut Sakhon province immediately, and later locking down Bangkok, as you creeps promised you would. Just another failure to uphold any and all promised you make. Your word is about as good as the word of a snake oil salesman, in Tombstone, in 1872.

What ever happened with your promises to root out your bad apple immigration guys, on the border? They likely let in thousands, to line their greedy pockets. Do you care at all, on any level, about anything other than your own enrichment, and the vintage of ridiculously expensive champagne you will have this evening?

There is no saying the extent of the corruption in this administration, but the army is not exactly known for integrity.

You must step down, or be removed. You are the most toxic force this nation has endured for a very long time. The youth is right. You must go. Out. Get out now!

Do not even attempt to shift the responsibility onto our shoulders. This one is on you. You have literally done everything in your power to sabotage the vital tourism industry, and have delayed the opening countless times. You are the one who chose to not lock down countless clusters, factories, and cities, and you bear huge responsibility for the current grave state of the economy. It all rests on your tiny shoulders, Prayuth!

The closing of tens of thousands of massage shops, bars, restaurants and hotels is your fault. You have caused a stupid degree of destruction to the nation your profess to love and be loyal to. Is it possible, just once, for you to give us a demonstration of that supposed loyalty to anything other than your rich cronies, who are above the law, and the sacred cow of cash money?

To say this says much about him and nothing good

If i were him  there's a time to recognize when you are in a hole deep enough to stop digging

In the BKK red zones maybe but since he decided to dispense with a all out effort to make facilities for the rising numbers   while opening the whole of Thailand to travel to their home provinces  ,he robbed Peter to give to Paul ! Another words he’s just switching the red zones to the poor rural north and try to claim a success when the numbers subside in his capital city.

People he is 100% correct ….. as in 2 weeks he will order government agencies to stop COVID19 testing …. No testing, no results, so NO outbreak.
