Yes, the heading is misleading - the article goes on to say that the drop is most likely due to the end of the National Day holiday week. Forward bookings and cancellations would be a better indicator of any downturn.

Agreed. The ongoing economic concerns the traveling Chinese class have are not helping matters, any more than they are with the western tourist market.

Chinese visitors have dropped off in other markets as well. Whether Chinese visitors or not the constant airfare  and accommodation cost increases are the true culprits.

I will be there right at the start of high season, or what used to be high season

 

With the exception of Kamala in Phuket, hotel prices haven't been that crazy

Domestic flights started to tick up so I booked them this week

 

Will be interested to see how the #'s look when on ground

Just shows how many Chinese tourists are there in Thailand. A stab in the dark and you get a Chinese.
