Thailand yet again trying to play both sides.  And they wonder why the US will not give them F35s and nobody but the Chinese will sell them engines for the subs. Who are the enemy in this Chinese inspired exercise?  I can have a really good guess who.  Piss or get off the pot Thailand.

Playing both sides is precisely what Thailand should do. Not only is this an explicit and long standing Thai foreign policy, it is consistent with the ASEAN partnership of which, Thailand is a member. It does not serve Thailand’s interest to pick winners.

BS. We all pick sides, I would have thought that Thailand would have learnt from its history, specifically WW2,  that such an attitude never works.  You align, or one day you get swallowed up. If you sup with the devil, use a long spoon.  Thailand's spoon is too short.

Seems like they like playing the Victor Victoria part. Yeah and the old wives tale of something else being too short.

Total BS! "we" all pick sides? Who are "we"? Khunmark above is absolutely right, and this has been the case for years. If anything, the US should be thankful to still have some kind of ally (grip) in this part of the world, which will be soon over. And comparing the current world with ww2 is just childish at the best. And what you believe being the devil is not what others think, YOU do not decide for the rest of the world who is the devil, the sooner the West (and you) understand what they arrogantly ignored for soooo long, the sooner the West will itself find its place in this new world.

No it is not. That is why Thailand is not taken seriously.

This isn't about picking winners. it is about territorial sovereignty and the rule of law. China is currently pushing its ocean borders and infringing on territory that is designated as Vietnamese or Pilipino. It  continues to threaten Taiwan and has broken its promises in Hong Kong. Thailand expects easy access into western markets for its products. It consistently fishes in foreign waters and is facing a national crisis in respect to water supply management with water that originates upstream in China and Laos.  Thailand expects the western world to support it  in its claims for market access and water access, yet remains quiet when the sovereignty of friendly nations is threatened.

Yes Thailand is very good at protecting its national pocketbook best interests. Unfortunately  staying silent when the  evidence on Russian war crimes is overwhelming, speaks to Thailand's lack of a moral  compass. During the Khmer Rouge Reign of Terror, Thailand profited handsomely from the trade in refugees, protected animals and trees, gems, medicine and food. There will come a time when the Chinese influence in Laos is too much for Thailand. Let the Thais ask their Russian friends for support against China.

Completely Wrong. Naive “schoolboy socialist” anti-West (anti- freedom) idiocy.😌Grow Up fcs……

The “devil” is clearly Tyranny Armed with Nukes ( China- Russia -North Korea). 😡
Unless you are literally emulating all Three Monkeys 🙊 🙈 🙉

Thailand has No Enemies, Needs No Military & has No Military Strength. F35’s indeed 😂😅😂😩

“Place” of the West ? Unchanged. Protecting Democracy & Killing Psychotic Regime Bad Guys.👍😎

When China comes for Thailand, as they inevitably will, to defend China’s prominent weak point, the Malacca Straits, the West / Pacific Alliance, the only capable defender of Thailand, will rightly do Nothing for Thailand.

However, West will probably use that CCP attack as pretext to then Destroy China’s Entire Air/Naval Presence west of Hainan then Blockade Malacca Straits and Stop China Trading USD. Farewell CCP China….👍😎

China have a Terrible Geographic Position, being “ hemmed in” on all sides by Enemy, No Friends ,Bad Economic (Exporter) Exposure, BRI Collapsing, Deteriorating Age Demographic, Culture Incompatible with Free Modern World……which is All Good for Free Nations.

China knows all this which, for now, actually indirectly protects Thailand from a clearly Expansionist China.

BUT CCP China has to Do Something Big to change all that ….or Perish…. Taiwan or Malacca move.🤔

I won't really answer this nonsense that you spout.  You are clearly ignorant of World politics and know nothing of how the World works and what is happening around you. You had better hope for your sake, unless you are a communist sympathizer and a supporter of dictatorships, that you are wrong about the US and the West in general.  Blissful ignorance must be nice .

If the west can close the Malacca strait then why would it struggle to close a water filled ditch you just magically created?

We all know China’s ambitions, so spare us the abridged history of the region. And if you want to get all high and mighty on cheque book diplomacy as an American citizen you should be well versed in your own country’s capacity to put their moral compass to one side when it’s expedient to do so. Or do you just hold Thailand to a different standard.

Some monumental hysteria here. The western governments, unlike yourself, understand Thailand’s historic and contemporary position in the region. They also understand, unlike yourself, the links formed with China through the three great waves of migration both culturally and historically. They would be well versed in the trade and economic ties between the two country’s, unlike yourself. And they would be aware that geographically Thailand is slightly closer to China than it is the U.S. (13,000kms). Whom, by the by have absolutely no care, that is; zero, nada, ziltch, bupkis care for the fortunes of its potential ally. So, let’s blow all that aside and piss off China, for what?

Thailand has no such historical connection with COMMUNIST CCP China.

CCP China care nothing for any other nation. Power Mad Tyrants.

Thailand welcome China & Russia only for their Money.
No doubt Thailand also giving Visa Waiver for North Korea- Iran- Syria.
Thai Regime has zero morality.

Dismissing Recognition of Obvious Evil & Danger as “hysteria” is Foolish Denial and a Lie to yourself.

Piss Off China? Who Cares ?Tyrannical  Belligerent Aggressive Expansionist Hated Evil. Screw CCP.

"I won't really answer this nonsense that you spout." Not "really" but a little though. Not answering is just "really" not answering, that means writing no word.

"You are clearly ignorant of World politics". Funny, I was thinking the same about you when I read your comments above. But unlike you, I tried to answer with an objective point of view. Now "objective", that means I do not take any side, I just observe. Yes I can see how hard it might be for you. But you choose "not to really answer", you are then not answering anyone that does not think like you, a sign of authoritarianism it seems to me, sure world peace would be achieved with people like you. I guess it is exactly what I meant in my previous comment, don't be too harsh on yourself if the rest of the world is now turning their back on you. Ask the Brics why they want now to turn their back on you (ok, not you - the west...the Americans...), more countries joining by the day, turning their back on you. And that is A LOT of people indeed, I never say that I like it or not, but I just see it as everybody else but you it seems. That is all I was saying in my previous comment that you did not want to answer but did a little though with your legendary arrogance. And Thailand has not quite done that (yet), turning their back on you, still keeping the US as an ally, so they (you) should be grateful about that instead of punishing them with your stupid F35s like spoilt brats as if it was going to make any difference anyway...well if any, Thailand will finally turn their back on you. So again well done! But instead of acting like spoilt brats, or arrogant imperialists, perhaps it is time for you (ok, not just you, I mean the west, the US, yes us, you and me...) why is it so? What the West, the US have done wrong all this time that now everyone want to turn their backs on them (us)?

"Blissful ignorance must be nice." Don't you know? "I know that I know nothing" (Platon). Meditate mate (sorry about the "mate", I just like the rhyme).

Will Thailand bring out their new submarines to show off for this event?
Will China's Navy show Thailand how to use their new submarines with no engines?  🤣

China CCP is mainly interested in Thailand's land-bridge that will env. pollute the Gulf of Thailand.
Will China "loan" Thailand the money to build this as they've done in a few African countries?  See how these African countries are fairing now in terms of their loans ... defaults everywhere and China taking over the ports and railways.

A few points. First the US and Thailand actually have a mutual defense treaty with each other. It doesn’t get any more friendly than that. Second the US and the Philippines also have a mutual defense treaty and basing rights. Third the US has full access to both the naval and air base in Singapore. Oh and US fighters and ships are routinely shall we say “visiting”. Singapore actually trains its pilots in the US. Fourth let’s just say the US and Vietnam are talking and leave it at that. Last ..: Diego Garcia. 😈

Any idea the US will be gone anytime soon is wishful thinking at best.

Thailand’s foreign policy is based on its national interests, nothing more nothing less. As is the practise or should be the practise of every nation state. In the domain of foreign affairs, cold hard pragmatism trumps virtue signalling every day of the week. And you invasion theory is straight out of the conspiracy theorists handbook, for reasons that should be obvious to you.

Ask any Australian about Scott Morrison’s sabotaging of the Australian economy through his public mishandling of China and you’ll get a lesson on how to negotiate a lose/lose outcome.

Well you’ve certainly bought into the mainstream western media narrative there old schooler. Remind me again of the benefits to China in invading Thailand? I missed that one. And a little side. It was the expat Chinese merchant class that built Thailand. 15% of Thailands population claim Chinese heritage- no connection there.

Speaking of morality and foreign policy, would you kindly list the tyrants and corrupt regimes the U.S has sponsored over the past decades? I’m happy to get the ball rolling, with general Phibun, in Thailand of all places. If you don’t know him you can google him. Seems to me you have some pretty serious inconvenient truths to confront.

I get NOTHING from MSM. Student of History, Facts and TRUTH.

Perfectly aware of how Free Chinese helped build parts of free East Asia. I referred to CCP CHINA. READ.

China would benefit from Andaman Sea Ports to defend Malacca Strats and be closer to Indian Ocean, India  & Africa. China would then also have broken out of the First Island Chain barrier to easy Pacific access. Saves China from invading Taiwan for same purpose. READ.

Pay Attention.Learn from those better qualified and more aware of Reality than yourself.

Study Geopolitics & Stop Drinking CCP Koolaid.

US supported many tyrants as bulwark against Communism. Wrong in 20/20 hindsight.

If Allies had nuked Moscow as planned in 1945 there would be NO Communism and no nukes outside civilised democratic western nations. No Soviet Union - No Cold War- No North Korea-No Cuban Crisis- No CCP China.
