No that is 100% correct, and there was no reasoning and no calm rational converation. He just heated it up from first second coming at me, and I just said ok, if that's what you want go ahead and then how about I call the police. Guy is a putz. So all done in his own language with his next door old senior guy neighbor cautious not saying anthing but nodding correct to what I was saying about his his dog was out of line for two days and nights into the morning till about 5am with last night and till this early morning way louder and off the piercing decibel charts ringing magnifying in the crisp of the Thai night. Didn't think it was realisticaly possible for the dog to up the noise level ante and the frequency of it literaly doing it non stop every 3-5-7 minutes for 4-5 hours non stop on end, but yep the anxiety of that dog was off the charts.

Anyway wife and son came out and spun into it with him before it got to the tango with him and I. I had no choice but to call him a few select names to provoke him as he is trying to provoke me,  and so dropped it and just walked away and left it to them (wife and son), which was a stand off as one cannot talk or reason with people like this until others come forward and sit him down. There are a couple who will do this against him. the guy is a turd.

I was the first to buy and make a house here. And so I believe, even though I am the big bad whitey foreinger farang with the biggest house and most many cars and bikes as maybe some of them see me (and having expensive dogs), they also hear and know I don't allow anyone to encroach on me and my family's space and dynamics, but for others he does, but in any course, no one can say that in this case he is right. Jerk has a lot of things wrong as in he thinks he is priveledged. The folk here are just non confrontaitonal and this is where I do their job. But I have to say I am in pretty good shape and will make most womnder if they want to tussle with me. Not a gym muscle d i c k, but got some muscle that shows them this guy is unpredictable. Or could be.

So going back to your post. Point = no, Worth it = yes and that play lets them know that with an action of non thinking or stupidy of selfishness and non caring about your surroundings of being conciderate to oyur neighbors, then there is a reaction (mine) if they are smart enough to understand this, and my reaction will be every time.

When our neighbors were parking and blocking my wife's car from being able to drive down the street or when they were letting their dog poop in front of the house, my MIL said something but my wife says she wishes I was there because I would speak my mind a lot more...........

 

I would suggest that you say you will call the police not for the noise but that they are neglecting their dog

That may have a bigger impact on them

THe situation with the forecast is more than "rain in the rainy season". It's lack of consistancy.

It is really down to the amount of rain in how much time.

Predicted over the wet season there is normally a predictable quantity of water expected - the problems arise when it exceeds the capacity of the infrastructure to cope.

Apart from urban flooding there are pron=blems  like damage to agriculture, topt grphical damge and damage to industry and even tourism.

THe prediction this year is that overfall rainfall will be lower than normal, this is due to the El Nuino effect.

THere is also the effect of MMCC which is increasing the extremes of variation - e.g heavier rainfall and more violent stroms followed by increased drought.

THe government is already preparing for a drought this year - which of course will further effect the price of rice and other commodities.

I know this is severely off topic again, but will just say it and get back on topic. Your wife has to know that when we as foreingers get into it it can turn sticky volatile pretty fast. In the end they will try to belittle us as foreingers saying we know nothing, but my edge is I speak Thai quite ok.

Well there is no love there and the guy is a jerk with no respect for the people around him. I have my moments but they ar all about speaking up to ones who overstep common sense creating absurd noise issues or letting their dogs crap anywhere the dog want  to. He tries to come off talking to everyone witht a false smile of sincerity, but then really doesn't have respect. He actually never shuts up. You can hear him almost talking to himself. This is a guy who used to start blaring his radio outside at 5am until a Thai neighbor in the back of him came over so pissed off and started yelling. This is a fool who at 4:45am or 5am every morning starts clanking frying pans and boxes oustide in the back of his box house making food everyday to sell at his wive's school. And I mean you can hear the clanking. I don't say anything on that because he is not my direct neighbor and it doesn't effect me when sleeping. If you are outside or have a window open yes you hear it. 

Bringing in the police is always there, but leaving a dog by itself isn't the issue and really isn't negelct, the issue is the dog is skitzo having an extremely high level of separation anxiety and the police would need to understand this then perhaps it can become a negelct issue.

Good thing yesterday is that a very heavy rain did indeed come just after that and it was so nice for the hour we had it. Silence is bliss with the rain.

I have never bought into the whole Thai vs foreigner thing and having to back down.

I am a very respectful person but I speak my mind, no matter where I am. Especially if I feel someone is being inconsiderate.

 

I have a very good relationship with my Thai family

But my wife says "my family fears you"

I said "good" 5555

 

But what she really means is they know I am not a pushover...........I think
