Looks like in many places the sweage system is not centralized enclosed and it is being channed to the public drainange system.  That is the entry point for all these creatures.

Lucky it wasn't a snake. Had a few locals complain of snakes in the toilet area.

One didn't complain the Cobra made sure of that. Lived alone, drunk (usual state) went to the toilet late at night. Autopsy showed venom killed him not the local booze.

We have a house in Nonthaburi and it's on a dead end street next to a big vacant field next to it

1st 6 months was ok but once they got all that rain, there were a lot of snakes

So I always bang on the door before entering the bathroom.............and look at the toilet and flush before as well

Cobra will not enter through the toilet bowl as they need to keep their head above water all the times. It is not like Python which can go submerged underwater.

We were just at a farm in Vancouver Island BC

Must have seen 10 snakes in 3 days, but all harmless

But my wife's village is basically all rice that is fertile all year(3 harvests)

And they very rarely see snakes(thank God!)

It is because it's mostly wet?

You will see them when the ground is harden and about to harvest the grains. These fellows will come to hunt the rodents.....bioligical food cycle and natural way of controlling them.

Yeah and since they have the 3 harvests the ground is almost always wet

So they don't seem to have many snake issues
