The story contains an odd detail on feminists would care about. The girl is 20 and might have been under 20 when they met. She thought he was 35, then was 'shocked' to discover he was really 44.

Well is there a difference, to a 20 year old? I mean he's old enough to be her dad, even if he was 35.

Not that it would be rape - or illegal, even. And is it abnormal, or morally wrong, to downplay ones own age by knocking off a few years - women do it all the time. If he looks 35 at 44, why tell the truth if the 'white lie' hurts no one?

Its just news stories include strange details in the telling. I assume it's more to do with the sensibilities of the journo, than the victim or the crime.

There is plenty of evidence, but there needs to be investigative work done to uncover it, and it is beyond the scope of a normal police station.  This needs to be reported to Technology Crime Suppression Division (TCSD)  or Cyber Crime Investigation Bureau.  This offender left digital footprints which can easily be uncovered to reveal evidence for an arrest warrant.

Ok, and if you have been in Thailand, you will understand  some underlying social issues, code words and customary practices.  The man is alleged to have raped the woman. She was physically assaulted and injured. She lost face and was humiliated. In Thailand it is customary to compensate for such personal injuries, hence the term to take care of. It is also includes dealing with the resulting pregnancy. If the woman was impregnated, and had to terminate the pregnancy, she would incur expenses that she would be unable to cover on her own, so the male would be expected to take care of that as well.  Do not assume it was a pay for play arrangement. In Thailand, the physical body is a vessel that holds the essence of the person - the spirit.

Where was pregnancy mentioned and why would the man be expected to pay.

First it's at best a legal gray area in Thailand, public favor for the act is not high, and therefore no face is saved by paying for abortion.

Second regardless the legality... it's her choice, just as she is the one has to carry the baby, he also couldn't stop her if he wanted to.

Where it is illegal, the most a man can do, is to prosecute after the event of abortion. In that sense 'my body my choice' is a fact, and the irrelevance of the man means he has no duty to pay anything.

Women get the golden pull, plan C, the coil, and longbrem contraceptive implants - maybe she should have chosen one of those. Instead of accusations and sob stories.

If this was about pregnancy or abortion, which isn't in the text.

What a load of horse bollocks 😆

Have you even been to Thailand?

I can't walk down the street without stepping around so many vessels ready to hold my essence.

Gimme a break 😄

You can not be serious

Your position requires one to accept that the woman agreed to be physically assaulted and raped.

MY experience has been that people do not wish to be raped nor approve of the act, which is why rape is considered a serious crime.

You are obviously one of the older males who believes that rape is acceptable,  even with prostitutes. The courts in the the country from which you come most likely do not agree. Did you know that for many westerners who rape people in other countries like Thailand, they can be prosecuted in their own country?

What is shocking here is that you ignore the fact the woman was sexually assaulted, raped and that you blame her for being raped. She was not a prostitute. If you do not understand the sexual assault laws of Thailand and the manner in which sexual assault is  perceived, I suggest you try speaking to an educated Thai outside of the  bar trade. The majority of Thai people are not impoverished or drug addicted street sex workers rife with disease. As such they do not share your  view that Thai people all want to have sexual relations with you.

Oh excuse me Mr. Fancy Pants. You sure do have a fixation on rape. Are you sure that's not some fantasy roleplay you enjoy exploring with young men?

At this point her accusations are hearsay. Even law enforcement dismissed her claims. I'm not claiming to know details. I only trust what my eyes and ears tell me. Even then not so much.

This is Thailand.

"It's just business" is the mantra. Not all. Not all. When the good fail to keep in check the evil then the good are themselves now evil.

I am very aware of the fact that people can be charged based on laws from their home country. A fact most Americans seem to ignore or overlook.

Pleasantly i am aware some of them have been administered justice for their flaunting of freedoms not within their prerogative.

Vigo you sound a little ponsy in your uppity post. Are you sure about your claims?

Your heart appears to be in the right place but your target "if it is me" is way off target.

There are so many holes in this story of hers it makes swiss cheese look virginal.

Rape and videos and/or pictures.

There is a saying, you can’t rape the willing. Doesn’t sound like that to me.

I am talking about the claim, the story references pregnancy and possibly abortion (why not just miscarriage?) and not the claims of rape.

You claimed the story insinuates pregnancy and abortion. Possibly pregnancy, referred to with avoidance - or is it just the accusation of a clingy woman, perhaps a BPDer? But no reason to assume any outcome, of any unproven pregnancy.

Women do lie about pregnancy, natural miscarriage, and abortion, to get what they want, because most of the events around pregnancies are unprovable. When there is a question mark over a pregnancy, there is a question mark over other details as well.

Yes when rape is reported to the police, they find there were not usually pornographers, helpfully standing there, and recording the event.

F*****g amazing, the lack of critical thinking, people have regarding reported events. Throw in an emotionally charged word, like 'rape' and the will to spot implausibilities and contradictions, flies out the window.
