Nothing new to me.  Around 2003/2004 I began exporting silver jewellery from Thailand to the UK. Before shipment my goods had to go through Thai Customs - they are collected and on their way the next day. They are so blatant about what 'goes missing' they don't care.  On the first few occasions I used UPS to ship my items and each time some 'disappeared'.  UPS could not give any information and were unhelpful so next time I used TNT who check-weigh consignments every time they move them.

I can't remember the exact weights involved but this shipment was around 5kg so I'll use that as my base. The reports I got were:

Picked up from Silver Co:         5.00kg

Delivered to Thai Customs:     5.00kg

Collected from Thai Customs: 4.75kg

Shipped:                                      4.75kg

Arrived in UK:                             4.75kg

Delivered to Destination          4.75kg

They knew the consignment was check-weighed as they are asked to sign for the goods on arrival at customs and again on collection. I was advised (by the buyer for 'Next') that I was 'being warned' and would be far better off using an agent who would 'take care' of the items through customs - any 'consideration' would be included in the agent's fees. If I 'rocked the boat', I could find that a whole consignment goes missing.

That may be the 'norm' in Thailand but I refused to take part in it - that was the end of my venture into the jewellery business. Shame really because we did rather well with the first few consignments.

Some of my Thai friends believe that eating durian and drinking alcohol can be lethal, so the choice is eating durian that smells like cat pee or drinking alcohol that tastes very nice, mnnn...tricky one. Personally I chose to take no chances and just stick to the alcohol.

Eating durian together with alcohol can be lethal and also taking together with milk can be dangerous.”

Dr Wong: There has been no conclusive scientific evidence establishing that eating durian and alcohol together may be fatal. However, due to the its relatively high fibre and carbohydrate content, excessive intake may actually give rise to heartburn and bloatedness in some people, which may be worsened with alcohol intake.

I think he's Wong. 🍺

Yes, eating durian and drinking alcohol is like committing suicide. Also take note that you cannot take milk and durian together. Which is also could be fatal. Only drink water. Normally old timers will pour some water to the durian peeled off skin inside the compartment of the flesh rinse it and drink the water.

Yes. I also avoid eating deadly nightshade and hemlock while drinking.
