Yep. Drunk driving, speeding, not following traffic rules and laws, no awareness for dangers etc.

The same old story day by day. Drive slow and enjoy the scenery- drive fast and join the scenery🤣

Unfortunately, this is normal and until there is proper law enforcement instead of fine collections, it will continue.  The real shame is that I can remember thinking exactly the same 20 years ago and sadly, nothing has changed.

Take for example what happens at Songkran - shortly beforehand announcements are made that there will be roadside checks and extra police on duty plus advertising to encourage people to drive safely over the '7 deadly days'.  Carnage ensues as usual followed by announcements of new laws and measures to stop it happening next year.  Then all goes quiet again until Songkran next year when it all kicks off again.

Been the same for the 20+ years I've been involved with Thailand and I can't see it changing.

Most of the fatal accidents occur after sunset and before sunrise mainly because it is the time most people will be having double vision due to some personal activities. And they simply speed on the road under darkness with half-eye and half brain in the shutting down mode.
