"The country's four largest banks expect a limited impact from the reduction in their loan interest rates based on the specific customer demographics and the limited time frame of the debt relief measures." - Bangkok Post, May 2, 2024 The story above is lifted, almost in its entirety, from the Bangkok Post story, but somehow manages to leave out the lead paragraph, which really says this is much ado about nothing. And it won't alleviate any debt, just make it a bit cheaper for a very few people. -

Whilst I don't support animal cruelty, or eat meat, you have to wonder how eating dog is different, from eating other domesticated mammals. Pigs are smarter than dogs, for example. If you don't eat dog, why eat pork...?- 1

News Forum - Pet peeve: Thai man eats dog in rage after it bit nephew (video)
The Thai people actually used to consume dog meat, before Westernising trends set in. Sort of parallel to changes in the Japanese diet and culinary culture in the 19th century. But because Thailand's economy never beat the US at her own game, we don't hear of this history very often, whereas every serious Japanophile knows about 'mountain whale'. Southeast Asian 'village dogs' were traditionally regarded the same way as domesticated swine, consuming unpalatable or inedible leftovers, off limits to diners, and turning them into protein for man's own consumption. (If this sounds wierd, some native New Worlders farmed dogs for wool.)- 1

News Forum - Thai tourism industry supports reintroduction of 300 baht tourist fee
Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't the fee originally posed as a way of making sure that all foreign visitors had medical insurance? Seems like these tourist touts just want the fee so they can fund their own programs and put more funds in their pockets. It will be assessed and maybe even collected but it won't benefit the tourists or protect the health care system providers as originally proposed. Just another Srettha fail.
