Fantastic.

Hopefully the Russian people will realise that a lot of their previous markets are not coming back.

Mind at the casualty rate of Russians in Ukraine they will soon run out of people to work anything in Russia.

I'm sure the Energy Oligarchs noticed.

Amazing to see a country/government actually functioning. In my country we have gas too - the plan was to let a private company export it and pay royalties to the government, which will go into a fund much similar to the above. What happened in reality and due to ineffective planning and no doubt bribes is that for many years now they delay paying any royalties. And this happens with other natural resources as well - anything being mined ends up lining private pockets instead of shared with the entire country.

Same in the UK, as well. The revenue from North Sea oil and gas has been frittered away by successive goverments (Labour and Conservative) and now with the current high gas and oil prices huge profits are being made but with the aid of a lot of creative accounting (by the same accounting practices that advise the government on tax rules) next to no tax is being paid.
