Looks like the American started the tussle by going after the DJ. If the American is not happy, then approach the manager of the pub. He has no rights to go to the employees of the pubs. He has to clearly understand one thing...when out of America, just keep you tail between your legs and enjoy your vacation...especially in Thailand

What lead to the altercation between the American and the DJ? Judging by the footage, the American seems to be up in the DJ’s face.

Not sure who's worse here:

The American for starting a fight with the DJ (how stupid can you be?).

The security guards for assaulting the American - they could've easily just escort him out - but they chose to kick him repeatedly then stomp on him while he was held down.

The police for closing a documented assault case with a 1000 baht fine - what a joke.

The club- for employing unprofessional security guards who are eager to fight patrons.

American needs special treatment for causing havoc in people's house. That is what he have been doing and he has been given special treatment so that he can clearly understands how to behave when he is a guest.

People's house? This was an ILLEGAL establishment. Ergo, it was a criminal enterprise. The police have not responded to that, nor did the police  acknowledge the severe  physical attack. You are quick to blame the client. Fine. What was the exchange between the DJ and the client. Since you are so knowledgeable, please share the cause of the  initial altercation? Was it a personal feud or a response to something the DJ said or did?

Employees at this bars/clubs can be full of themselves, arrogant, power trippers. Clients can be jerks especially when over served alcohol. Whatever the the reasons for the initial altercation, there was absolutely no justification for stomping on the man's head. You seem to think that attempted murder is acceptable. Unfortunately these assaults are a common occurrence with Thai bar staff. They get their jollies beating up farangs. The resentment of a 300 baht a night worker has for someone who is spending 1, 2, 3 thousand baht a night and who can pull easy Thai girls, some of whom gig on the side for the bar staff is toxic.

Exactly right. In many of these venues - especially in Phuket - the staff is all too eager to attack customers - they're just looking for an excuse. They clearly made a choice here to attack and hurt him when they could've easily de-escalated the situation. Stomping on someone's head while they're being held down should be punishable by a lot more than 1000 baht and a wai.

Personally I try not to attend venues with hostile staff, for my own safety and because I don't want to support them. Impossible to completely avoid, but there are venues where the staff is genuinely friendly and won't try to kill you.
