This is the Most Welcome Move, Would it be possible to extend the same during the week day Peak traffic and business hours ?

These trucks are very slow and dangerous.

 

In some cases the slow-moving trucks choose to continue use the right lane, which real reason for traffic snarls.

At least on the sign boards where they should start writing the following

" Slow Vehicles, choose Left Most Lane"

" Bikes drive only on the Left Most Lane"

The best is to banned all these heavy vehicles from midnight till 6am on all major roads and highways including parking along the highways at night.

Anybody know if there is still this offer around Songkran time that if you get drunk it is ok just as long as you drive slower.

Maybe a ban on 2 and 3 wheelers would save many more lives.

I never did figure out the rules, if any, for overtaking on Thai roads - in the UK, the inside (left most) lane is, in theory at least, for driving in, the other lanes are for overtaking, and undertaking can get you a fine and points on your licence under some circumstances. Apart from drivers of Mercedes and BMWs that is - who drive in the right most lane only and tailgate anyone daring to get in their way.

Road rules need to be enforced everyday, 24-7and eventually positive results might materialize. As it is the roads are lawless and the road statistics reflect the lack of continuous enforcement. Banning trucks on 6  highways is a drop in the enforcement bucket.

Haha... who wants to bet that there will be 10+ wheeled trucks on these roads with no enforcement!!!

Won’t make much difference the rules won’t be enforced and sadly the death toll on the roads over Songkran will be horrendous as per usual with two wheelers causing the majority of fatalities.
